Learn more about our work at ************************** THE OPPORTUNITY The Center is seeking a dynamic and compassionate professional to join the People Department as an Employee Relations Specialist. Reporting to the Employee Relations Director, the Employee Relations Specialist will handle employee complaints, disputes, and performance matters, ensuring fair treatment and compliance with organizational policies and employment laws. The role also works in a preventative manner by providing training to managers and supervisors on topics including performance management and communication techniques, and by serving as a resource to managers and supervisors as well as to the People Department team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conduct comprehensive investigations into allegations of workplace misconduct, including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, and interpersonal conflict with an emphasis on care and sensitivity; Serve as the point of intake for internal complaints or referrals involving employee behavior, leadership concerns, or violations of the organization's core policies; Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses; gather and analyze relevant documentation and physical/digital evidence; Ensure all investigations are conducted promptly, fairly, and in accordance with internal protocols and applicable employment laws; Draft clear, well-reasoned investigation summary reports with findings of fact, credibility assessments, and recommendations for resolution; Present findings to Employee Relations leadership and, when necessary, partner with Legal, and senior management to determine appropriate next steps; Maintain and manage detailed, confidential records related to workplace investigations across SharePoint, Google, and other recordkeeping systems, ensuring compliance with internal requirements and applicable laws; Partner with HR Business Partners and site leadership to support accountability conversations and progressive discipline, based on investigation outcomes; Partner with HR Business Partners to identify trends in complaints and policy violations and escalate patterns of concern to leadership for proactive risk mitigation; Provide excellent customer service to staff by being proactive and responsive to employee inquiries; Develop and lead training and other supports to managers on topics such as giving feedback and communication techniques; Visit program site locations to connect with our staff to deepen relations with staff; Coordinate and consult with the Director of Employee Relations on investigations and other employee relations matters, as appropriate; Assist with other projects as needed; and Additional tasks as necessary. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; A minimum of 3-5 years as an HR Generalist or related HR experience required, including 3-4 years of experience conducting investigations in response to employee complaints particularly in relation to Equal Employment Opportunity, Anti-Harassment and Discrimination and Violence-Free Workplace policies; Direct experience conducting full-scope workplace investigations is required, including detailed documentation, witness interviews, and writing investigation findings. Experience managing caseloads involving harassment, discrimination, or retaliation complaints strongly preferred; Excellent interpersonal communications skills, a collaborative approach to problem-solving, exceptional organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required; Strong ability to work independently, prioritize work, efficiently complete tasks with multiple simultaneous projects, maintain confidentiality and discretion, and exercise good judgment; and Excellent verbal and writing skills. Position Type: Full-Time. Position Location: Hybrid with approximately two days onsite per week at our midtown Manhattan location with occasional travel within the five boroughs, Newark, New Jersey and Syracuse, New York. Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 and is commensurate with experience. Learn more about our work at ************************** THE OPPORTUNITY The Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC) seeks to re-engineer the experience of criminal court in Staten Island, New York, by providing judges and attorneys meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. Operating out of Richmond County Criminal Court along with community-based offices, SIJC is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail by providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, and in doing so, uses an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant's life, avoiding the harmful effects of incarceration. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates and mandatory programming, and receive referrals to services like job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling. SIJC seeks a Case Management Coordinator for the borough's Supervised Release Program (SRP). Reporting to the SRP Director of Practice, the Case Management Coordinator is responsible for employing quality assurance measures to ensure the program is adhering to the program model and employing best practices aligned with organizational values, including a commitment to Operational Excellence. The Case Management Coordinator will provide direct supervision to Supervising Case Managers and group supervision to Case Managers and Senior Case Managers. Additionally, they will ensure that case management staff regularly engage in program-specific training and receive consistent and appropriate task supervision. The Case Management Coordinator will facilitate effective communication between this team and across all other SRP teams to ensure that the program builds on successes and proactively addresses challenges. This position leverages significant direct practice and supervisory experience to support staff in the execution of their responsibilities. Through trauma-informed supervision, case conferencing, and interdepartmental communication, the Case Management Coordinator will ensure case management and peer staff adhere to the program model through a trauma-informed lens. Critically, this position is responsible for ensuring that staff maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Center's SRP data management system and submit accurate and timely compliance reports for each participant supervised by the program. Additionally, the Case Management Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of new policies and protocols, with the goal of supporting staff to deliver the best possible services to participants enrolled in the Supervised Release Program. Since 2011, the Brownsville Community Justice Center (BCJC), an operating project of the Center, has worked to address systemic inequality, enhance public safety, and create opportunities for residents to lead in building a safer, more equitable community. The Neighborhood Safety Collective (NSC) builds on BCJC's decade of community-driven work, serving as a platform for residents, government partners, and community stakeholders to co-design and implement initiatives that improve safety, foster economic opportunity, and reduce reliance on the justice system. BCJC is seeking a Youth Initiatives Coordinator. Reporting to the Program Manager of Community Initiatives, the Coordinator plays a critical role in developing and implementing interest-based, project-based, and healing centered youth programming. This position is responsible for designing programming and opportunities that align with youth needs and aspirations, managing subcontractors, coordinating internal operations, and facilitating youth leadership initiatives. The Coordinator works collaboratively with the Justice Center's social work team, community stakeholders, and youth participants to ensure programming is responsive, engaging, and supportive of long-term personal and professional development. The Coordinator oversees program logistics, builds systems for tracking resources and partnerships, and leads youth-centered initiatives, such as the Youth Leadership Council. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Program Design and Coordination: Identify and design interest-based and workforce development programs each seasonal cycle (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall), in partnership with youth participants and the social work team; Create meaningful, high-quality youth programming aligned with civic engagement, arts, career exploration, and skill-building; and Organize and facilitate youth showcases at the conclusion of each program cycle to highlight participant accomplishments, both within BCJC and through external partners. Contractor and Partnership Management: Identify, vet, and manage subcontractors and teaching artists to deliver youth programming and workshops; Facilitate onboarding and orientation for subcontractors, ensuring alignment with program goals and BCJC standards; and Monitor contractor performance, communicate expectations, and collect feedback to support quality assurance. Youth Engagement and Leadership Development: Lead BCJC's Youth Leadership Council (YLC), providing mentorship, structure, and project support to foster youth voice, advocacy, and community engagement; and Develop opportunities for youth to lead or co-design projects and programming across BCJC initiatives. Program Logistics and Operations: Coordinate space and supplies for all youth program activities; ensuring program rooms are properly prepared and stocked; Track and input participant attendance for all stipend-eligible youth programs in alignment with BCJC's payment and tracking systems; and Manage the logistics for program orientation, workshops, and showcases, including room scheduling and materials procurement. BJI seeks a Participant Engagement Specialist for the borough's Supervised Release Program (SRP), which provides supervision, case management, and social service connection to thousands of court-mandated participants each year. Reporting to the Case Management Coordinator, the Participant Engagement Specialist will leverage interpersonal and data-management skills to support participants' successful engagement with the program. The Participant Engagement Specialist will provide outreach to program participants who missed program orientation, intake, and those who have been disengaged for 21 days or more. Make It Happen is a program designed to assist young men, ages 16 to 24 in overcoming challenges related to exposure to violence, poverty and inadequate roles models. All participants are connected to resources to assist in job readiness and placement, education, housing and other appropriate services. NIA seeks a Hospital Responder to help create better access to on-site victim services and crisis intervention to those who have been directly impacted by violence. The role of the Hospital Responder will be to deliver crisis intervention services and follow-up to those who have experienced violent trauma. The Hospital Responder will support services at Kings County Hospital and on-site at the Neighbors In Action locations in Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy. This person will be available to travel within Brooklyn to provide services and provide home visits. Professional or personal experience with the criminal justice system is preferred. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Crisis Intervention: Provide counseling services for youth, young adults and their caregivers/support system as referred by S.O.S. Responsibilities include conducting intakes and assessments; providing comprehensive case management; offering individual counseling and facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic groups; and supporting participants across same-day, early diversion, and ATI programming. Since 2011, the Brownsville Community Justice Center (BCJC), an operating project of the Center, has worked to address systemic inequality, enhance public safety, and create opportunities for youth and residents to lead in building a safer, more equitable community. BCJC is seeking a Coordinator, Community Safety. Reporting to the Program Manager, Community Safety the Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating BCJCs' peer mentorship and youth violence prevention efforts. The coordinator will work in close collaboration with the Community Initiatives team, ensuring that youth and community participants receive holistic, support that fosters safety, healing, personal growth, stability, and long-term success. The Coordinator will provide supervision and coaching to a team of peer mentors with support from the Program Manager and coordinates a range of youth violence prevention programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage day-to-day operations of youth violence prevention programming including peer mentorship and gun diversion; Supervise a team of peer mentors including weekly group and individual supervision; Provide professional development and professional mentorship to peer mentors; Co-develop and implement professional development plans with peer mentors; Coordinate ongoing training in facilitation, youthwork, and mentorship for the peer mentor staff; Provide mentorship and advocacy to youth impacted by community violence and criminal legal systems; Facilitate youth workshops and group programs focused on violence prevention and community safety; Collaborate with the Community Initiatives team to develop and implement youth led and community placekeeping projects; Build community support for the program (including faith-based community leaders, residents, businesses, and community organizations that provide services needed by program participants); Coordinate, lead, and support regular mobilization and youth led community projects in support of community safety goals; Coordinate responses to community violence in support of youth participants and community; Assure systematic recordkeeping on program performance indicators, participant caseload and program highlights; Maintain data integrity and accuracy, submitting timely and complete monthly program reports via prescribed tool/mechanism; Attend community-based meetings, community events, and activities; Serve as a representative of the organization and program, as needed; and Additional relevant tasks, as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience and at least one year of supervisory expereince is required. Candidates who have equivalent experience working with youth, lived experience, program coordination experience, community organizing abilities, and one year of supervisory experience will be considered. Candidates who are formerly incarcerated or have other experience in the criminal justice system are particularly invited to apply. The candidate should be an enthusiastic, energetic self-starter with a passion for preventing gun violence. Knowledge of violence prevention, community engagement and organizing, and youth engagement and support strategies. Experience working with youth impacted by violence, and knowledge of the Brownsville community. Excellent communication skills, commitment to working towards positive community change, and interest in learning new skills and information are a must for this position. Position Type: Full-time, Monday - Friday from 10:00am - 6:00pm, working evenings and weekends. Schedule may be flexible, changing, and include late nights. Position Location: Brownsville, Brooklyn. The Queens Community Justice Center is seeking to hire a Functional Family Therapy (FFT) Therapist for a community-based violence prevention program that aims to reduce violent recidivism through intensive and voluntary therapeutic services. The FFT Therapist will report to the Justice Center's FFT Supervisor. This program is part of the Atlas initiative and uses the evidence-based Functional Family Therapy (FFT) model to engage young people and their families in holistic anti-violence services. Atlas works to prevent violence by meeting people during a crisis, like a recent arrest or open court case and connecting them to a change process that nurtures hope and strengthens relationships. As part of Atlas, the Queens Community Justice Center is offering FFT to young people at elevated risk for violence in the community, victimization, or a re-arrest. FFT is an evidence-based intervention for youth and families. This high-quality, strength-focused family counseling model is designed for high-risk youth and young adults who have been referred by the criminal court, juvenile justice, mental health, school, or child welfare systems. Services are short-term and typically offered in the home, though services can be offered in the office or other community settings.
