Six years later, in 1845, Brooklyn City Hospital (later renamed The Brooklyn Hospital) was incorporated by the state legislature.
A training school for nurses was established in 1880, thanks to the civic-minded women of the Fruit and Flower Mission.
By 1893, another building was erected to house one of the first separate maternity departments to be found in a general hospital.
In 1990 the official name of the hospital was changed to The Brooklyn Hospital Center.
2017: TBHC partnered with Mount Sinai Heart to bring comprehensive cardiac care to Downtown Brooklyn.
2017: The robotic surgery program was launched.
2020: TBHC was a major frontline in the battle against COVID-19.
2021: TBHC partnered with New York Cancer & Blood Specialists to create The Brooklyn Cancer Center.
