REPORTS TO: Head Custodian/Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable,
clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas,
neat and clean at all times.
2. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide
temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of
fuel, water, and electricity.
3. Shovels, plows, and sand walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as
appropriate.
4. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are
working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
5. Raises the U.S. flag at or before 8:00 a.m. on each school day, and lowers it at
or after 3:30 p.m.
6. Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
7. Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition
requires it.
8. Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary
fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
9. Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year,
and more frequently if necessary.
10. Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.
11. Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting and tree trimming as
necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
12. Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of
preservation.
13. Cleans all chalkboards at least once a week.
14. Makes minor building repairs.
15. Reports major repairs needed promptly to the head custodian.
16. Maintains on a regular schedule all motors and other mechanical equipment
requiring scheduled servicing.
17. Reports immediately to the principal any damage to school property.
18. Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school
hours when the use of the building has been authorized and extended work
hours have been approved.
19. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school
day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured,
and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
20. Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand, and requisitions such needed replacements from the principal far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodian's work.
21. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
22. Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
23. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
24. Assumes responsibility for the safe condition of the swimming pool, if the building has one, making all necessary water tests, backlashing the filters, and refilling the pool as necessary.
25. Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition.
26. Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year. Salary is per salary schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions
of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.

JOB GOAL

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Has a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Center Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation.

Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all student and parent requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school sports program and school community.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Assists the head coach in scheduling, providing transportation to tournaments and special sport events.
Assists in preparation for scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees.
Provides documentation to the athletic administrator needed to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides training rules and other sport specific regulations to each candidate.
Supervises practices, games and team trips. Takes all necessary measures to safeguard each participant.
Directs student managers and statisticians.
Implements school conduct code.
Delineates due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary.
Contacts parents when a student is alleged to have violated the athletic code.
EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES
Is accountable to the head coach for all equipment.
Collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned.
Arranges for issuing, marking and storing of equipment and submits an annual inventory and current records.
Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
Recommends to the head coach budgetary items for next year in this area of the program.
Monitors equipment rooms and coaches' offices and authorizes who may enter.
Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility.
Secure all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.
Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the head coach in carrying out his responsibilities.
Issues press releases and school announcements.
Instructs team members concerning changes in rules.
Teaches fundamentals of the sport as outlined by the head coach.
Maintains a record of team statistics and requirements for lettering.
Works within the basic framework and philosophy of the head coach of that sport.
Attends all staff meetings and carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the head coach.
Supervises players before and after practice.

Purpose Statement

Communicates with passengers (e.g. explaining acceptable bus passenger behavior, relating changes in time schedules, providing information for field trips, reassuring special needs passengers, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining student safety and well-being.
Ensures parent participation (e.g. as needed, for students who require a parent to be at pick-up and dropoff location, etc.) for the purpose of meeting all regulations, laws, regarding student safety.
Fosters development of supportive and inclusive atmosphere (e.g. daily bus trip environment, etc.) for the purpose of providing safety and acceptable passenger behavior.
Monitors students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc. (e.g. special medical conditions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers.
Prepares reports (e.g. incident reports, passenger misconduct, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, and complying with established guidelines.
Reports student behavior and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, health emergencies, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Secures students and/or their equipment (e.g. restraints, wheelchair tie downs, seat belts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Moving from different routes as needed.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of daily student bus transportation.

What You'll Be Doing (Primary Duties/Responsibilities):

* Communicates frequently with parents to update them on Dual Language Immersion Programs happenings, to identify community resources and to help parents support their students' academic growth.

* Develops and implements a training program for all staff on the school's model and approach, and on the fundamentals of Dual
* Language Immersion Programs.
* Develops a list of community language resources (e.g. available speakers, venues for field trips) that can facilitate authentic use of target languages.
* Develops an understanding of curriculum that will be used in the Dual Language Programs, and research supplemental materials and resources.
* Creates and monitors procedures for Dual Language Programs staff to collaborate on planning and implementing the instructional program.
* Stays current on research and best practices related to the education of language learners, attend trainings and conferences to build knowledge of Dual Language Immersion Programs.
* Engages in networking with outside school districts and regional Dual Language Program schools.
* Ensures that program communications are up to date (website, video, brochure)
* Communicates with school and other District staff to advocate for the needs of the Dual Language Program students.
