SAYFE seeks to stabilize youth in the community using natural support structures and through working in collaboration with San Mateo County. Position Summary: The Family Specialist is a member of our multidisciplinary team whose role is to serve parents, caregivers, and non-professional supportive adults of our youth (ages 6-18). This individual provides family-based mental health counseling, support, crisis-intervention, and case management services to children and families. The Family Specialists provide services at the program site and in the community, including, but not limited to, hospitals, schools, and family homes. Experience in providing services to children, adolescents, and their families with an emphasis on family preferences. Must be able to work with diverse populations and be comfortable working in a variety of environments, including family homes, schools, places of business, and in the community. Bilingual in Spanish required to meet the client's needs. Must possess a valid California driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record under the Clinics' liability policy. May be required to obtain a Class II California driver's license. Must pass all applicable health, fingerprint/LiveScan and DMV clearances. JOB PURPOSE: The Child & Family Specialist - WRA (CFS WRA) works directly with children and families in the WRA program to help achieve and/or maintain permanent placement for the children and the families and complies with the WRA orientation and philosophy. The CFS WRA also provides guidance, direct services and support to children and their families in a variety of settings. Additionally, the CFS WRA is expected to deliver intensive home-based services that are individualized and strength based mental health interventions that are designed to improve the mental health condition(s) that interfere with the child's functioning. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Works directly with children and families in their respective environments. 2. Helps children and their families to achieve a permanent placement for the children. 3. Provides one-on-one support and behavioral interventions to clients and/or their families using a team and community-based approach. 4. Helps children and families build skills needed to meet their specific needs and achieve greater self-sufficiency by planning and implementing individual and group activities. 5. Attend all training, regularly scheduled staff meetings, community meetings, and other meetings as assigned 6. Participates in case supervision on a weekly basis; discusses current caseload, documentation, and productivity 7. Meet established documentation expectations. 8. Complies with WA approach and expectations. 9. Upholds regulations established by the Department of Mental Health, Department of Children and Family Services, and Department of Juvenile Probation in Los Angeles County. 10. Provides crisis intervention as needed (including evenings, nights and weekends). 11. Demonstrate a willingness to work flexible hours; be available to work non-traditional hours on a regular basis. 12. Interface with DCFS, DMH, court systems, schools and other community liaisons. 13. This is a field-based position, as the majority of the services are provided in the field. 14. All other duties as assigned.
