Knowledge of distribution load flow and fault analysis is helpful. Central Electric Power Cooperative is a Transmission cooperative with its headquarters located in Jefferson City. Central provides service to its eight member distribution cooperative systems in a 27 county area through 1,600 miles of transmission lines and 120 substations. Successful candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. In addition, experience with Milsoft engineering analysis, recloser/fuse coordination software, GIS Software, Excel, and Word would be helpful. Knowledge of other computer applications that are utilized to support distribution and transmission operations, including SCADA systems is considered a plus. Performs maintenance, installations and repairs to fire hydrants, valves and different types and sizes of water mains. Performs bench and field test and repairs of water meters. Repairs and replaces meter boxes and vaults as well as valve box adjustments. Performs hydrant painting, hydrant flow tests, and miscellaneous preventive maintenance procedures. Assists in maintaining Water Distribution ISO Certification by following Water Distribution's Standard Operating Instructions. Essential Functions: Removes and/or replaces soil, water, materials and/or debris from work sites. Loads and unloads equipment and materials from vehicles at work sites. Operates jackhammers, compactors, pumps, and boring equipment. Disassembles and removes damaged or worn pipes. Assembles and installs new pipes. Disassembles/assembles pipe and meter appurtenances in the installation and/or repair of meters, meter boxes/vaults and service lines. Make repairs to meters up to 36” in size. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides mid-level aerial installation functions that could include hand digging with a shovel, setting up traffic control, entry level equipment operations, placing fiber, climbing poles, loading materials, etc. on various safety sensitive utility construction sites Proficient with utility print and map reading Has performed at least 2 years of independent aerial cable placement and installation; knows all safety regulations with basic operating skills Climbs utility poles and/or utilizes lift to place cable in adherence to print designs and maps Supports the setup and shut down of utility construction projects including traffic control in various conditions including highways, side streets, parking lots, downtown locations, etc. Safety is the expectation, always follows the required safety practices while performing safety sensitive duties Trains alongside experience construction crews learning fiber installation, print reading, equipment operations, OSHA requirements, etc. Loads and unloads materials and equipment in from vehicles at construction yards and jobsites Acts as right hand to the Foreman, leads by example, ensures safety rules/regulations are followed, and can lead other's on jobsites Performs OTJ training to with Foreman and/or Senior Foreman to grow and development technical and leadership skills Assists in identifying hazards by utilizing the pre-task process Performs other position duties when requested SUCCESS FACTORS: Travel Ability Nationwide A strong belief in ZERO- Being Safe 100% of the time is the expectation Alignment with company mission, vision, and values Strong work ethic with an ALL-IN attitude Strong team player with the ability to adapt to diverse team members Ability to perform in a fast paced/high volume environment Excellent verbal communication skills A high level of time management, accountability, and prioritization skills Ability to be organized, problem solve, and be solution oriented Self-motivated, goal- oriented, and driven to accomplish department goals Excellent at learning and following direction WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc. May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite Regular exposure to all weather conditions including hot, humid, cold, rain, snow, ice, etc. When working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: 2+ year of lineman experience within the telecommunications industry required Formalized training/Lineman certification required from accredited tech school required 6 months OTJ training and 1 year of Lineman experience required if no formal education Valid driver license with a clean driving record required CDL License (or the ability to obtain) required High School Diploma or equivalent required The starting pay for this position is $24.00 and may vary based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
