Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital Department: Imaging Hours Per Week: 8.00 Work Schedule: Variable The Radiographer performs radiologic and CT examinations in accordance with all state/federal safety regulations. The Radiographer is expected to perform a variety of procedures with the knowledge and ability to apply prescribed amount of radiation for the purpose of obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by the radiologist. Responsibilities: * Performs radiographic, fluoroscopic, and CT scanning utilizing equipment in accordance with department protocols. * Performs all duties in a timely manner with minimum waste of supplies, materials, and time. * Acts as resource to all patients, physicians, and staff in a polite manner - referring to another resource when necessary. * Prepares and/or administers contrast material. * Takes call (within 20 minutes from Organization or onsite) as required by departmental needs. * Schedule Imaging exams as needed. * Complete charges and other clerical duties as required by shift. * Learn PACS and assist providers as needed. * Maintains equipment in good working operating condition and operates equipment according to department and manufacturing recommendation. * Prepares and orients patients to the procedures and provides patient education. * Communicates necessary information to the radiologist for exam interpretation * Provides assistance in continuous quality improvement. * Follows established safety methods and procedures in accordance with the department policies and documenting exam exposure factor. * Ability to work independently. * Maintains department according to procedures * Assists other departments in duties as requested and in accordance with Radiology scope of practice. * Maintain a safe environment which includes knowing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures. * Report and directly address identified environmental hazards when appropriate. * Report and directly address violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed. * Other duties as requested by Director. The Radiological Technologist is expected to perform a variety of procedures with the knowledge and ability to apply a prescribed amount of x-radiation for the purpose of obtaining diagnostic quality radiographs for interpretation by the radiologist.
