The Technician, Device performs remote monitoring and full pacemaker and ICD device interrogations. The role is in charge of remote monitoring of devices which continues to grow in the field of electrophysiology technology. This position is responsible for receiving recording transmissions, interpretation of data through device check modalities and manages required follow up of remote device monitoring appointments. This role serves as a clinical resource within the EP division for cardiac technician staff.
Responsibilities:

Provides direct patient care to individuals with implanted cardiac devices and provides diagnostic evaluation of patients' cardiac rhythm.

Performs pacemaker, implantable defibrillator, and cardiac event recorder evaluations to include; interrogation, analysis, and reprogramming as ordered by the physician.

Performs cardiac event recording hook ups, downloads, and performs preliminary interpretation of cardiac rhythm.

Troubleshoots critical device issues and takes immediate steps towards correction.

Analysis of remote device transmissions and report preparation for physician review.

Ensure charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.

Assists in the Operating Room for device programming, deactivation, and reactivation during scheduled procedures.

Provides educational and technical support to patients with devices, under direct supervision.

JOB SUMMARY


The Central Service Technician I is responsible for phases of the supply process, collection and distribution functions, for services to various departments. This individual has a responsibility of contributing to the quality of patient care through strict quality assurance and efficient practices of decontaminating surgical equipment and instruments through proper cleaning, inspecting, maintaining, assembling, packaging and monitoring sterilization of instruments and supplies.


Work Shift
:

Monday-Thursday 2130-0800 with rotating call on Weekends and Holidays.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS



EDUCATION


For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.


Minimum Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.


Preferred/Optional:
Currently enrolled in/attending/completed an accredited HSPA or CBSPD sterile processing technician program.


EXPERIENCE



Minimum Required:
None


Preferred/Optional:
Central sterile experience.


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES


The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.


Minimum Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire and one of the following within two years of hire:

Central Service Technician certification awarded by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Military equivalency



Preferred/Optional:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA and one of the following at time of hire:

Central Service Technician I employees employed by MCHS in a Central Service Technician role as of March 10, 2019 are not required to obtain a central service technician certification, but must acquire annual continuing education credits equal to the requirements to maintain such a certification. Individuals hired into a Central Service Technician I role after March 10, 2019, must meet the above certification requirements.

Any Central Service Technician joining MCHS through acquisition is not required to be certified, but must acquire annual continuing education credits equal to the requirements to maintain such a certification.

Responsibilities

You will perform duties as a Central Service Technician (CST) which includes distribution of supplies and equipment as assigned within all facilities at UCLA Health System including community clinics. This position is a support position to all patient care units, including the procedural, interventional, and radiology areas.

Responsibilities include:

+ Work closely with the clinical staff to identify their product needs and staging preferences.

+ Set up and / or modify products within a supply management software.

+ Place electronic orders using a hand held or third party software to replenish inventory to set pars.

+ Receive and transport supplies from the dock to their destinations.

+ Reconcile packing slips against ordered and delivered content using multiple software platforms.

+ Assess and revise par levels to accommodate changing demand.

+ Recommend or assist in inventory cost reduction initiatives.

+ Assist in the management of back-ordered items via notification stickers and on-hand counts.

+ Assist in picking up supplies for scheduled and trauma cases for the OR.

+ Assist in consolidating OR supplies into specialty packs by procedure.

Required:

+ Ability to push and pull up to 100 pounds, and lift up to 50 pounds.

+ Maintains a positive attitude and behavior: efficient with time utilization/productive, strives to be a team member, prompt attitude, adapts to change in workload, adapts to variable rotating shifts.

+ Always responds to the needs of all areas. If unable to meet the needs, keeps the area informed and offers alternatives.

Preferred:

+ Previous hospital, purchasing or accounting experience.

+ Experience in electronic ordering using a handheld and in extracting reports for supply chain management database such as Lawson or Optiflex is a plus.

+ Experience using an Electric Pallet Jack, Manual Pallet Jack, Forklift, Supply Dollies and Heavy Duty Transport Carts, and Furniture Dollies as needed.
