Prepare reports and summaries to assist Credit Administration and support account officers with underwriting loan requests, covenant monitoring and portfolio management. Lead and support Commercial Credit Hub Analyst's team to ensure action requests are completed within policy and procedure. Review Commercial Credit Hub Analyst's financial spreads and other loan monitoring tasks, providing guidance to ensure quality and accuracy. Provide oversight on ongoing monitoring and reporting of compliance with loan covenants, reporting requirements, and other Policy and Bank-required tickler reports. Provide guidance, assistance, training and development to Level I and II Analysts. Maintain, and revise the department's spreading guidelines and procedures. Act as liaison for the department, communicating with and providing conflict resolutions and resolving discrepancies to Credit Officers, Underwriting, and Relationship Management Teams. Minimum Qualifications to Perform Essential Functions: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand and interpret financial statements, business reports and legal documents. Strong knowledge of business management and planning tools, including financial statements and ratios, budgets, inventory and accounts receivable turnover. Strong knowledge of the different types of financial statements and accounting principles and guidelines to ensure proper analysis. Detailed knowledge of UCA Cash Flow and the impact that different transactions would have on financial statements and repayment ability. Knowledge of the most pertinent financial and industry factors that should be discussed based on different loan types and/or borrowers. Demonstration of effective team leadership skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Effective math skills, including ratios, percentages, interest and amortization. Good judgment and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and organization skills. Effective business writing skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer proficiency, including internet browsers, and word-processing and spreadsheet applications. Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills. Proficiency at speaking, reading and writing English. Experience and/or Education: Three years Commercial credit analysis experience. Four to seven years of commercial lending experience. Completion of college-level accounting courses or equivalent work experience, preferred. Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar field), preferred. The Senior Commercial Underwriter is responsible for a variety of functions which include, but are not limited to the following: * Review loan submissions for policy fit and adequacy of information; validate borrower and guarantor financials; confirm third-party reports and collateral documentation; verify that application meets Summit State Bank loan underwriting standards. * Underwrite and structure C&I, CRE, and construction requests up to $20MM; prepare credit authorizations and detailed credit analysis. Construction Lending: perform general contractor analysis and qualification and build and maintain budget spreadsheet. * Well versed in accurately analyzing and structuring non- stabilized situations. Including but not limited to interrogating the assumptions in borrower projections, expanded analysis of external cash flow sources and uses, liquidity, and developing appropriate covenants around milestones. * Review and analyze appraisal assumptions and methodologies; reconcile valuation to proposed structure incorporated into Bank credit authorization. Evaluate all collateral on all secured loans, including but not limited to title review (commitment/policies, lien position, exception, easements, UCC) and environmental due diligence and prepare reports of findings. * Work directly with Lenders/Relationship Managers and, when needed, Borrowers to discuss issues, ask questions and make financial and covenant recommendations as necessary. * Work closely with all parties to assist in timely processing, credit approval, and closing of loan requests, and partner with Loan Operations to ensure procedures are followed for closing and funding. Coordinate draw funding with loan operations on construction loans. * Perform annual term loan reviews and covenant testing; clear financial and covenant ticklers; draft waiver requests when required; and, if a default is triggered, refer the RM to coordinate default letter with Special Assets Manager. * Work independently with little or no oversight on low to moderately complex duties. * Work closely with Senior Credit Administrator and Chief Credit Officer on highly complex issues. * Position is considered experienced and may be expected to provide training, coaching and mentoring. * Other duties may be assigned. As a Summer Fellow in the Commercial & Investment Banking - Commercial & Specialized Industries (C&SI) Track, you will be provided with an introduction to financial services and the firm. Upon successful completion of the Fellowship Program, you will be considered for a 2027 Summer Internship offer. Successful completion of the internship is a significant step towards securing full-time employment with the firm.
