Compensation: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour About Us The Sobering Center Contributes to a Safe Community Founded in 2018, the Sobering Center was built with the intent of providing the community with a safe place to recover from intoxication in lieu of the jail or the emergency room and to then be referred to community based resources as needed. Today, we have provided this service to over 7,000 individuals, and continue to evolve our services to meet the needs of our community. Our clients reflect the Austin/Travis County community in that we are regularly providing sobering services and brief interventions for college students, festival goers, partakers of downtown entertainment, and the chronically homeless. All are welcome and our staff will work to individualize the intervention. Our Impact Substance use disorder (SUD) and alcohol use disorder are the leading causes of preventable illness and early death. About 21 million Americans have at least one addiction, yet only 10% of them receive treatment. The Sobering Center provides counseling to those who identify or meet the criteria for SUD. The misuse of alcohol or other drugs could lead to personal consequences due to increased risky behaviors and ultimately lead to entry into the criminal justice or medical systems. Our organization provides the essential service of diverting publicly intoxicated individuals from such systems and provides direct intervention to assist that 90% in getting the help they need.

Responsibilities The Staff Nurse - Residential renders professional nursing care at the residential site pursuant to the objectives and policies of the facility. Must possess excellent assessment skills, self-confidence and be assertive in advocating for good patient care in working independently as a nurse. Must be highly organized and prioritize all nursing tasks and procedures in a shift. Education of patients and staff is a vital component of this position. Some on-call work is required. This position is full time and is performed at the residential site. The shift is double weekend. Shift: 7:00am-11:30pm (Saturday and Sunday) Your key responsibilities will include: Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient. Supervises, administers, assists with, and delegates the distribution of medications. Takes vital signs and monitors the medical progress of patients. Completes documentation and reporting. Follows physician's orders and individual nursing care plans, including assisting patients with daily routines, catheter irrigating and assisting with respiratory treatments.
