Job Description General Description: Cross Docks is the practice in logistics of unloading materials from an incoming semi trailer as well as other departments onto an outbound semi trailer with little to no storage in between. The Cross Dock has different work assignments that can change from day to day. If you like working in a fast-paced environment and learning new things, the Cross Dock can offer that and more! Duties & Responsibilities: Team Members will use forklift, powered pallet jacks, and clamp trucks to receive and ship orders to our stores. Manual work including breakdown freight, repalletizing product, wrapping pallets, labeling pallets, and housekeeping projects are included. Responsibilities include completing daily assignment in a safe and timely manner while meeting department productivity and accuracy standards. Being able to work alone or in a group with a sense of urgency to meet our stores/guests needs. Also ensuring all special orders get received in/shipped out in a timely manner free of damage and accurately shipped. Workers also need to maintain a safe and clean work environment. What you'll do as a Warehouse Receiver: * Examine condition of product as it arrives from various carriers. * Document overages / shorts / damages, expiration dates, product temperature, trailer condition, evidence of pest infestation or product tampering. * Direct outside carriers and contract unloaders on how to sort and segregate product. * Follow and maintain product integrity as required by McLane Company standards. * Print pallet labels, enter purchase orders into computer and assign doors. * Cover for Receiving Clerk as needed. * Comply effectively with company work and safety rules. * Continually meet assigned production standards. * Maintain a quality of work that limits mispicks, shorts and damages. * Follow directions. * Work independently and in a team environment. * Be trained and certified to operate any required equipment within 30 days after hire. * Comply with company attendance policy. * Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the changing needs of the Distribution Center; work schedules may require working an early shift, staying long for a late shift, and weekend work depending on the customer and operational requirements of the division. * Work in warm and cold temperature conditions that may range from 38°F to 110°F. * Stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp and reach above the head continuously for a period of two hours or more. * Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by our customers. * Other duties may be assigned. Roles and Responsibilities Conduct operations in a manner promoting safety Sit-down lift experiences preferred Minimum of 6 months of forklift and warehouse experience Must be super-efficient in all tasks required Put away inbound shipments/move product to storage locations using a forklift Picking cases by the each onto pallets using the powered equipment Prepare product for shipment ensuring the exact number and correct item is staged for loading Keep appropriate records and reports for inventory accuracy Report quality variances Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion Assist in any required physical inventories Complete daily inspection of equipment Perform additional duties as assigned by management Ensure proper stock rotation Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program Comply with all OSHA and MSDS standards Ability to read, understand and follow instructions, and to code applicable documents Qualifications Must be able to pass Forklift Driving Skills test This position requires lifting cases weighing from 20-45 pounds repeatedly throughout a long work period 18 years or older Working in a high-speed manufacturing environment (e.g., team-oriented, deadline driven, high performance demands, fast-paced, etc.) Driving a forklift (e.g., performing basic operations such as driving forwards, driving backwards, lifting and lowering boom, maneuvering in tight areas without damaging product, etc.) Working with racking systems and loading/unloading pallets (e.g., pulling and placing pallets on/off vertical product racking systems and trucks, maximizing storage by stacking products vertically, etc.) Working with standards of operation (e.g., OSHA requirements on minimum/maximum speeds, signaling, putting products in appropriate areas, etc.) Safety: Observe and follow health and safety regulations Enforces operating instructions and safety policies. Assist management in establishing warehouse standards and procedures Maintain detailed records of safety incidents Assign designated safety personnel Maintain warehouse in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Responsibilities Move, loads and unload materials Responsible for safety, equipment inspections and possibly assisting with repairs Be expected to assist other crafts in their down times which may include non-operating activities. Perform daily pre- and post-shift inspections of all equipment to be used to ensure its safely operable. Load finished bale product onto incoming trailers for shipment Communicate with staff on mechanical and operational issues Perform general ground maintenance, as needed Qualifications Will be responsible for all safety aspects of operating equipment Must have knowledge and 6 months experience in operating forklifts Must have basic mechanical knowledge to inspect equipment Must be able to follow instructions Must follow all safety regulations May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
