Other duties may be assigned. • Promptly greets patients when entering waiting area, exam room, and laboratory or x-ray room • Consistently communicates with patients on wait times; provides direction to the next step in the treatment process • Provides solutions to patient problems and recognizes and seeks help in emergent/hazardous situations • Executes follow-up calls with a sense of urgency • Assist front desk personnel with patient check in/out procedures when necessary • Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family and social history current medications, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate • Assists with patient transfers • Assists with procedures directly supervised by the provider • Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient visit WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE? Full-time team members work a rotating 36-40 hour/week schedule, consisting of 12-hour weekday shifts and every-other weekend. Our PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Nuclear Medicine Tech at CHI St Vincent, you will help capture usable diagnostic images from patients so the Radiologist can accurately diagnose and/or rule out different conditions. Every day you will collaborate with the Imaging team as well as other multi-disciplinary teams on the nursing units, and you play a huge role in the diagnosis of illness and patient care. A Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a direct care provider who can work in a fast paced, high volume patient care environment. You are efficient, compassionate, and absolutely dedicated to providing excellent care. In this role, you will perform a variety of scans of particular organs to furnish diagnostic information. You will operate Nuclear Medicine equipment to produce images that measure concentration of radioactive isotopes in specific body areas. You are dedicated to patient safety and you always use precision and practice proper radiation safety techniques on all exams performed. To be successful in this role, you have equal parts technical knowledge in all aspects of your job, but you also show compassion to those that trust themselves in our care. Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceuticals and materials; calculates and administers doses under the direct supervision of a Radiologist Calibrate and draw up radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients; formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits. Calibrate instruments and review calibration date to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction. Calculate data to include results of patient's studies and radioactive decay. Performs diagnostic exams on patients as prescribed by physician. Uses scanners or scintillation cameras for detection of radiation emitted to produce image of organ on photographic film.
