Job Description Please take this virtual tour to get a sneak peek of one of our Plasma Donation Centers. Phlebotomist About the role: Every day, the donors you meet will motivate you. The high-quality plasma you collect will become life-changing medicines. Here, a commitment to customer service and quality is expected. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a plasma donor screener and perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations. How you will contribute: · You will greet donors as they enter and exit the donor floor. · You will perform venipuncture of donors and programming of plasmapheresis machine. · You will monitor donors during the donation process and manage donor reactions. · You will perform all tasks required for the setup, verification, operation, and troubleshooting of plasmapheresis equipment within scope of training. · You will install, prime, and disconnect disposable sets on the plasmapheresis machines · You will stock supplies, break down empty cartons and assist with proper disposal. · You will take and record donor pulse, blood pressure, and temperature measures and monitor electronic donor questionnaire system. · You will perform finger sticks, test sample, and record other donor measures to include hematocrit, total protein, and weight. · You will enter donor information into the Donor Information System (DIS). · You will coordinate donors to donor floor and compensate donors using the Debit Card system. · You will support the center management team in identifying operational opportunities for continuous improvement, initiating changes to center processes through use of company approved procedures including 5S, Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen. Use only authorized abbreviations established by this facility when recording information. Keep proper care records and report any change in health or behavior to the supervisor. Report all accidents / incidents you observe on the shift as per policy and procedure. Resident Nursing Care Functions: Provide resident care per the resident centered service plan. Medication management for residents. Greet residents and escort them to their room. Assist with activities of daily living. Assist with Admission, Transfer and Discharge functions for the residents. Participate and receive the shift exchange report upon reporting for duty. Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids. Assist with activities of daily lives following resident centered services plan. Maintain intake and output records as instructed and per resident centered services plan. Answer resident calls promptly. Check each resident routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes and per resident centered services plan. Identify activities that appeal to the resident and encourage socialization and participation in those activities. Dietary Functions: Assist residents in dining area taking into account any special dietary needs and personal preferences. Handle and prepare foods and fluids in accordance with sanitary regulations. Set up and clear dining tables. Clean dining rooms after meal time, including washing linens and dishes. Assist with prepping food as requested, taking orders, serving dining meals and drinks. Housekeeping & Laundry Functions: Clean living rooms, restrooms, laundry rooms, and common areas. Complete requested Laundry services. Personal Functions: Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors. Follow work assignments and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks. Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that all services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Create and maintain as atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the neighborhood and shift. Meet with your neighborhood personnel on a regular scheduled basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or the improvement of services. Report all complaints and grievances made by residents to Director or Administrator. Attend and participate in staff development programs and activities that are required. Safety and Sanitation: Participate in an in-service training program prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Wash hands before and after performing any service for the resident. Immediately notify the Supervisor of any resident leaving/ missing from the facility. Follow established safety precautions in the performance of all duties. Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Supervisor immediately. Report all safety violations. Use only the equipment you have been trained to use. Operate all equipment in a safe manner. Inform supervisor of your equipment and supply needs. RESIDENT RIGHTS: Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information. Ensure that you treat all residents fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect. Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy. Knock before entering the residents room. Report all grievances and complaints made by the resident to the Nurse Leader/ Neighborhood Nurse. Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property to Nurse Leader/Neighborhood Nurse immediately. Honor the residents refusal of treatment request. Ensure that such requests are in accordance with facilitys policies governing advance directives. Discuss refusal of treatment with the Nurse Leader/Neighborhood Nurse for appropriate follow-up. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works throughout the nursing service area (i.e., nurses stations, residents rooms, etc.). Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all circumstances. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitor. Communicates with Care Assistants and other department personnel. Attends mandatory in-services and the yearly requirement of 12 hours of in-service education. Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity services. Must be able to relate information concerning a residents condition. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
