The Orthopedic Clinic is seeking a dedicated certified Medical Assistant that has previous medical assisting experience to join our dynamic team as an orthopedic Medical Assistant.
The Medical Assistant will work directly under the supervision of our Orthopedic surgeons and will be accountable for creating an exceptional patient experience, while ensuring accurate, efficient and effective clinical operational practices are followed. The Medical Assistant is responsible for application and removal of casts including complex casting and orthopedic splints and devices. This position has a significant amount of patient contact and is typically involved in the team assessment of patient needs. This role requires exemplary customer service skills, problem solving, organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
We believe every patient should receive the best possible care, our practice offers an array of services specializing in general orthopedics, spine care, sports reconstruction, adult reconstruction and non-surgical treatments. We currently have eleven Orthopedic Surgeons, one Interventional Pain Management Physician, Mid-Level Providers, and a Physical Therapy team who serve patients at four locations within Volusia and Flagler counties.
What the Medical Assistant will do:
Triage patients
Take vital signs
Cast/splint patients, complete dressing changes, remove suture/staples, apply DME
Observe and report patients' signs and symptoms
Collect and prepare all necessary notes, diagnostic test results/images for the physician's clinic to insure smooth operations
Assist with patient examinations and procedures
Enter accurate, detailed HPI in the electronic health record
Assist in stocking and ordering of supplies as well as maintenance of equipment
Requirements
Experience and Abilities:
Certified / Registered Medical Assistant, EMT or higher certification or license within the State of Florida
Two years of medical experience in an accredited health care facility
Prior orthopedic experience a plus
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, EHR software applications, preferably Athena
Valid Driver's License / Clean Driving Record/ Proof of auto insurance

* Successful completion of MA school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider
* High school diploma or equivalent
* CPR Certified

* Hands-on professional Phlebotomy experience with blood draws, etc.
