The Opportunity
12.5-month program at Riverside University Health System - Medical Center designed to train AP's in Emergency Medicine utilizing didactic and clinical experience.
2100 Clinical hours in acute EM care as well as weekly lecture time.
Core Emergency Department time will be 10 months (40 weeks).
Off service rotations include Internal Medicine, ICU, Bedside POCUS Ultrasound Course, and specialty rotation tracks.
Fellows will attend the Advanced Trauma and Life Support Course (ATLS) at RUHS.
In addition to core EM content, focused training will include clinical efficiency, documentation, billing, scribe utilization, and patient throughput.
This is a paid fellowship with benefits and malpractice insurance included.
Required Experience and Competencies
Physician Assistant applicants must be eligible and/or possess NCCPA certification or a graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program.
Nurse Practitioner applicants must be eligible and/or possess AANC or AANP certification, or a graduate of a CCNE or ACEN accredited program.
Must be licensed to practice in the State of California.
Eligible for and/or possess current DEA licensure (must be fully licensed by the start of the program).

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors patient management and treatment. Maintains a safe environment for patients. May be assigned to provide continual observation of confused patients.
Check vital signs. Chart routine information e.g. vital signs and daily activities.
Report and record any changes observed in patient condition or behavior, including unusual incidents. Identify, report and assist with the management of emergencies.
Interact with patients to support their participation in the program. May provide educational sessions or other groups for patients.
Assist with orientation, admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
Provides clerical support as directed by nursing staff. Keep charts in order with all forms properly identified.
Take and record accurate vital signs.
Follow directions of nursing personnel and physicians.
Successfully completes the medication test.
Observe universal precautions, including correct handling of blood borne pathogens, storage of lab specimens, and disposal of infectious wastes.
Remain calm while performing job duties.
Assess and reports patient behavioral changes.
Identify a crisis. Demonstrate appropriate techniques for interventions, including AMA, behavioral issues, suicide threat, code green, and contraband on the unit.
Recognize the symptoms associated with chemical dependency and detoxification.
Document patient treatment progress.
Make presentations and facilitate educational groups as needed.
Works as a member of the treatment team.
Maintain professional boundaries and standards.

Recognize personal biases working within diverse populations. Maintain cultural sensitivity at all times.

Courteously answer phones, appropriately directing calls and taking messages. Makes phone calls for patients as approved by the nurse in charge.
Handle patients' personal belongings as directed.
Run errands within the CDRH and respond to requests for assistance from the nurse in charge, the DON, and other authorized staff.
Attend meetings and participates in committees as assigned.

Under the direction of the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) and Residential Coordinator, the Nursing Support Professional (NSP) delivers compassionate, individualized care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NSPs are vital members of our interdisciplinary team, promoting health, safety, dignity, and independence in a residential setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide personal care, including bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
Support daily routines and active treatment programs to foster resident independence.
Prepare meals, snacks and drinks in accordance with individual dietary needs and restrictions.
Administer medications and treatments as outlined in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and physician orders.
Accurately complete all required documentation in Therap, including:
ISP data
Medication administration
Seizure logs
General event reports (GERs)
Intake and elimination records
Incident reports
Vitals, time tracking, and T-Logs
Recognize and report health changes, including emergency responses (e.g., cardiopulmonary distress).
