Job Description
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for safely administering prescribed medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Key Responsibilities:
Administer medications as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with state regulations.
Accurately document medication administration in the electronic health record (EHR) or medication administration record (MAR).
Observe residents for any adverse reactions to medications and promptly report changes to the nurse on duty.
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, bathing, dressing, and mobility support.
Maintain proper storage, handling, and accountability of medications.
Provide emotional support and establish positive relationships with residents and their families.
Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
Assist nursing staff with other duties as assigned to ensure quality resident care.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide training program.
Current CMA certification and in good standing with the state registry.
Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or healthcare setting preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Compassionate, patient, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist residents with mobility.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
