The Nursing Assistant - Associate is the entry point for the Providence Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program. The program provides training and support for individuals with no, or very little, direct healthcare experience. The successful applicant is provided an educational program that prepares the Nursing Assistant - Associate for state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Once certification is obtained, the Nursing Assistant - Associate is advanced to the Nursing Assistant - Journey position. Upon completion of the entire apprenticeship program, the Nursing Assistant - Journey is advanced to the Nursing Assistant - Senior position.
Utilizing the plan of care for each patient, the Nursing Assistant - Associate contributes to the wellbeing and healing of patients by assuring patient safety under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. This position contributes to a safe and secure milieu that is culturally sensitive and age appropriate. Care is provided that reflects an understanding of each patient's treatment needs and anticipated responses to those treatments within the context of their individual health status. The Nursing Assistant - Associate must fully engage with, and successfully advance through the apprenticeship program.

Required Qualifications:
National Provider BLS - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualification:
No direct healthcare or patient care experience required. This is an entry level position that will provide the education and experiences necessary to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of California.
