This position plays a vital supportive role to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) by performing a range of clinical duties. Responsibilities include comprehensive vital sign monitoring (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate), conducting medical assessments, and evaluating individuals for intoxication levels and detoxification risks. The role also involves administering breathalyzer tests, screening for physical injuries and medical complaints, assessing levels of consciousness and behavior, and performing brief psychiatric needs screenings. Additionally, the EMT will perform delegated wound care tasks and administer the Withdrawal Assessment tools as a backup to nurse coordinators. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Service Delivery Team Support Quality Assurance Play a supportive role to LVNs on shift. Engage in vital sign monitoring. Conduct medical assessments in the absence of an LVN. Evaluate individuals for intoxication level and risk for detoxification symptoms. Check blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate. Ask about bruising, hematoma, or rash. Palpate trunk and extremities for bone deformities. Administer breathalyzer tests. Inquire about cough, chest pain, or other medical complaints. Evaluate and record level of consciousness and visible behavior. Briefly screen individuals for psychiatric needs. Perform wound care tasks as delegated. Administer Withdrawal assessment tools as back-up to LVNs.
