Family Medicine Center at Wilmington is looking for a Senior Medical Assistant.
ChristianaCare's Rocco A. Abessinio Family Wilmington Health Center is home to three primary care practices among other programs and services. The ChristianaCare Family Medicine Center at Wilmington is one of two locations for our academic family medicine practice in Wilmington. The other location is ChristianaCare Family Medicine Center at Foulk Road. These locations include physicians who are teachers, faculty members, making it possible for resident doctors to be part of your care team. Faculty participate in research and continually advance their knowledge as they mentor leading-edge and compassionate care.
Primary Care services are supported and enhanced by the on-site pharmacy, diagnostic testing, social services and patient wellness and educational programs.
Work Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am to 5:30pm
Tuesdays from 7am to 7:30pm
Medical Assistant will rotate Saturdays from 8am to 12pm
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be involved in rooming patients for virtual and on-site procedures, taking and recording patient vitals, performing point of care testing, injections, medication administration, and EKGs, assisting clinicians with examinations and procedures, preparing exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment, completing patient-specific paperwork, ensuring EMR is up-to-date, ensuring adequate staff coverage, participating in new hire orientation, handling patient call backs, sterilizing medical equipment, handling prior authorizations, referrals, and medical refills, scheduling tests, procedures, and surgeries, performing quality control on POCT equipment, providing documentation assistance, performing clerical duties, and ordering and maintaining office clinical supplies and equipment.

Education Requirements:
High School Graduate or GED required.
A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant is required; 3 years' experience is preferred.

4 East is a 24-bed general, specialty and subspecialty medical unit with a high population of patients requiring respiratory or gastrointestinal management. Each single patient room is equipped with oxygen, compressed air and suction, along with state-of-the-art cardio respiratory bedside monitors and computers that enable the healthcare team to access a patient's electronic medical record. These computers are also used in the barcoding administration of medications which ensures patient safety by verifying that the correct medication is given to the appropriate child. This unit's goals are to provide high-quality, cost-effective, family-centered care. Family-centered care rounds are performed daily to assure an inter-professional approach and partnership with the patient and family.
Essential Functions:
Ensures an adequate stock of all necessary equipment and supplies in designated areas at established par levels.
Ensures a clean and safe patient care unit.
Assists patients with activities of daily life (bath, feed, play, etc.) and provides other patient care as directed.
Assures all supplies are accurately charged.
Contacts pharmacy, dietary, and other departments as designated by the Registered Nurse.
Collects patient specimens (blood, urine, stool, other per policy), paying close attention to patient safety, comfort and accuracy of information.
Uses Hospital Information Systems as required for patient care, (e.g. documenting vital signs and patient care activities.)
Accurately relays information from physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel and others.
Transports patients and delivers reports, supplies, etc., to other patient units or Institute locations as needed.
Courteously and professionally covers patient care unit front desk as needed. This includes promptly answering telephones, greeting patients, sending reports, distributing, sorting, or processing mail, managing medical record, etc.
Provides 1:1 sitter coverage for medically complex and behavioral health patients, as assigned
Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.
Participates in unit, departmental and hospital education programs.
Attends unit/departmental meetings regularly.
Demonstrates proficiency in the care of patients of all ages; neonates, infants, toddlers, school aged, adolescents and adults.
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year patient care experience preferred.
Able to read and write accurately.
Able to understand laboratory orders, computer information, and some medical terminology.
Able to obtain specimens, including blood specimens, from a patient population that is primarily pediatric and often ill, handicapped, or restricted in some way.
Current American Heart Association BLS required
Inpatient experience preferred

STATEMENT OF JOB:
The CNA/Direct Care Giver provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community. The CNA encourages residents to function at their highest level of independence and to participate in community activities. Conducts activities and provides for a meaningful experience for all residents. Responsible for ensuring a pleasurable dining experience and marketing the community in a positive and professional manner.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position
Assists residents with activities of daily living
Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCC, RN/LPN, or ED) and completes appropriate documentation
Perform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc. as directed by supervisor
Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts
Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergencies
Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents
Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information
Assists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities
Checks on residents, ensures attendance at meals and activities
Checks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individuals documents appropriately when necessary
Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers
Assists new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional support
Reports all resident changes and interventions and interventions in the Daily Log and clinical record. Notifies family as directed.

Requirements:
Must possess current CNA license from the State in which the community is located and in good standing with the Board of Nursing
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing
Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel
Must be a contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisor
Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs
Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge and a smile
Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner
Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays
Completes all other duties as assigned

All our caregivers are offered as many cases as they wish to take on, working full-time or part-time throughout whichever area they are comfortable in travelling. For this position, you must have your own transportation. Weekends are needed, but not required.
**This job is PRN; it means you only work when they need you. This is based on the cases we have available and the hours that are required for each case. You can pick up any case you qualify for if it is not filled already.

Qualifications for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs):
Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
CPR certified.
Negative TB test result
Pass a background check.
Provide two (2) professional references.
