Sign-On Bonus available! This job works collaboratively to maintain patient safety and provide for the delivery of basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. May provide constant observation of the patient and notifies nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status and when leaving the room, and intervenes as needed to maintain patient safety. Communicates effectively with co-workers, patients, family and visitors. Performs all functions delegated by the nurse staff and adheres to policies and procedures.

Education
Required - High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience
Required - None.
Preferred- Hospital and telemetry experience.

Certifications
Required - Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA).
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 60 days from hire.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent time management skills. Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
Job Duties
Assists with plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of practice. Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area. Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas. Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams. Completes documentation of patient related tasks. Maintains professional certifications and technical knowledge. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Performs other related duties as required.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.

We're looking for someone to join our team as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who: Provides personal nursing care to the patient under the direction of a licensed registered nurse (RN). Performs tasks associated with activities of daily living including self-care needs. Performs routine assigned tasks and reports patients' status and concerns to the Registered Nurse (RN).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

+ Performs tasks associated with activities of daily living, including assisting with nutrition and hydration, elimination, personal care, positioning devices, restraints and restorative care.

+ Takes vital signs including, pulse and blood pressure. Helps patients with their basic needs, i.e., bathing, dressing and feeding.

+ Performs a variety clerical duties, which include but are not limited to routing patient reports as appropriate.

+ Uses organizational skills to keep unit running smoothly and uses prioritization skills to meet deadlines as indicated.

+ P rovides assessment data.

+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education High School Diploma or equivalent: Preferred

Required Licenses Other Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification: Required

Phlebotomy certificate: Preferred in California and Hawaii
