Organizational Function and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for Lab and Clinical instruction in the NursingAssistant program at the college level. This includes implementing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing, and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, supporting students, and participating in limited college service activities at the department, division and college levels.
A variety of schedules exist, including weekdays, weekends, and evenings. Laboratory experiences are scheduled a total of 25-clock-hours, with most shifts between 3 and 6 clock hours. Clinical experiences are scheduled a total of 24-clock-hours, most scheduled as 4, 6, or 8 clock hour shifts. Lab and clinical shifts longer than 4 hours are scheduled to include breaks.
This position reports to the Associate Dean - School of Nursing.
Essential Duties:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Responsible for hands-on instruction in the NursingAssistant program laboratory and/or clinical experiences.
2. Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies and alternative delivery strategies when appropriate to face-to-face lab and clinical delivery.
3. Participate in in-service meetings, staff development training or other activities or programs requested by the Department.
4. Assist and advise students who have problems with course content, career concerns, and other matters that can impact performance.
5. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, , providing grades on a timely basis, evaluating student performance and maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
6. Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System

Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Nursing

At least 1 year of paid full-time or part-time work experience as a Registered Nurse in a long-term care facility or facility providing care for an extended period of time to people living with chronic health conditions (e.g., rehabilitation unit, swing bed unit, inpatient skilled hospice, etc.).
License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of WI (or able to obtain Wisconsin license if currently licensed elsewhere).
OR Tested/Equivalent Experience:
1. Associate Degree in Nursing
2. Two (2) years of related work experience

Assists in providing and performing activities to small and large groups of residents as assigned including informing residents of activity schedule and encouraging attendance.
Assist in transporting residents as needed within the Oakwood campus, and in arranging for medical appointments and transportation when needed. Monitor appointment schedule and remind residents.
Performs other similar duties as assigned.
Job Experience/Training required (Not intended to be an all-inclusive list)
Completion of state certified CNA course preferred.
Completion of required CBRF and Oakwood training within time frames dictated by state regulation and Oakwood policy required.
Prior experience in working with elderly in an assisted living environment is required.
If under 18, waiver will need to be obtained.
