Pay Range: $22.03 - $40.31 supports both our Washington DC and Silver Spring locations. The office is open Monday-Friday from 8a-5p, no evenings, weekends or major holidays. Previous inpatient/outpatient and compounding experience required. Position Summary: Maintains the ordering and stocking of medications and supplies as needed in the clinic. Under supervision of appropriate licensed healthcare professional as defined by State regulations, prepares and mixes medications. Coordinates with drug sales representatives, and pharmaceutical companies to obtain samples, teaching aids, and compassionate drugs. Inventory, Supply, and Equipment Management * Order, stock, and track medical supplies and medications, ensuring appropriate inventory levels and minimal waste. * Perform daily and annual maintenance of chemotherapy hoods and manage ambulatory pump documentation. * Handle biohazardous waste disposal safely and compliantly, including recordkeeping and coordination with Accounting. 3. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation * Maintain required records for compassionate drug programs, clinical trials, biohazard waste, and related pharmacy processes. * Ensure compliance with all federal/state laws, patient privacy regulations, OSHA standards, and organizational policies. 4. Training & Collaboration * Assist in training new pharmacy technicians and nursing staff on chemotherapy preparation and Nucleus system workflows. * Collaborate with nurses, physicians, supervisors, and pharmaceutical representatives as needed to support patient care and operational needs. 5. Operational Flexibility & Professional Responsibilities * Support operations across multiple locations as needed and work overtime when required. * Participate in mandatory meetings, including annual Safety/OSHA training. Position Qualifications: Education * Following applicable state regulations, PTCB Certification or Registered as Pharmacy Technician is required. About the Job The pharmacy technician works under the direction of the health plan pharmacists to facilitate the safe and effective use of medications by enrollees/members and their providers. Job Description Pharmacy Technician (Outpatient) WRMC Bethesda, MD Receives and reviews prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary; determines type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs) Enters prescriptions into outpatient computer system reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders. Coordinates with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions; verifies appropriate medication, and checks the printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness. Performs all outpatient functions with minimal supervision by a register pharmacist. Enters and retrieves patient specific information and reports from pharmacy-oriented mainframe computer systems. Assists with drug utilization review studies as mandated by JCAH. Prepares sterile products for critically ill patients in intensive care units.
