Job Summary: Performs a variety of duties to assist the staff pharmacist which do not require the professional judgement of a Registered Pharmacist. Duties may include ordering, technician scheduling, inventory control, compounding, packaging, labeling and distribution of medication and other pharmacy supplies needed for use in the hospital, as well as assisting with, and maintaining written records, as required. Assists in Pharmacy Operations under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

• Restocks Pyxis automated dispensing machines.
• Delivers medications and IV products to patient care locations.
• Delivers or restocks Controlled Substances with the appropriate controls.

• Identifies and segregates short dated and outdated pharmaceuticals.
• Unpacks, checks, and places into inventory purchases pharmaceuticals.

• Maintains cleanliness of the IV compounding area in regulation with USP 797/800 guidelines and with consideration for Universal Precautions.
• In collaboration with the Designated Person for 797 compliance, maintains documentation of cleanroom monitoring and cleaning activities.
• Maintains stock levels of supplies in the IV compounding area.
• Monitors and maintains stock levels of premixed products.
• Prepares first dose medication request labels in a timely manner.
• Prepares "cart fill" meds for distribution

Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician is an integral member of the FHCHC team, working collaboratively to assist and support FHCHC providers and patients. Typical duties include but are not limited to:
* Assist with operational activities of the pharmacy.
* Maintain professional working relationships at all times, with the pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
* Deliver high quality customer service and be available to customers at all times.
* Demonstrate a friendly and helpful attitude to best address customer needs.
* Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications
* High School diploma or equivalent is preferred, two years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement. Associate Degree in Pharmacy Technician preferred.
* Two years related pharmacy technician experience, 340 B and customer service is preferred.
* Pharmacy technician registration in the State of Connecticut is required or the ability to register within 90 days of hire.
