While your primary location will be Loranger, LA, flexibility to float between our other locations in Hammond and Independence as needed is required. Key Responsibilities: Assist the pharmacist with daily tasks such as processing prescriptions, counting medications, labeling bottles, and distributing medications. Use pharmacy systems to gather patient and drug information, processing prescriptions with accuracy and care. If PTCB certified, coach and assist other pharmacy technicians and support cashiers. Greet customers in person and over the phone with patience and concern, addressing their questions and requests or referring them to the pharmacist. Maintain and organize pharmacy inventory, place and expedite orders, and ensure expired drugs are removed. Prepare medications by reading prescriptions, calculating dosages, and labeling medications for the pharmacist to dispense. Record and file physicians orders and prescriptions to maintain accurate records. Ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and infection control policies. Observes and adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures and follows all safety, quality assurance and infection control standards. * Responsible for knowing the laws and regulations related to controlled substances and meeting expectations for handling-controlled substances securely and completing all required documentation. Knowledge of departmental quality assurance processes. Actively participates in various departmental committees and educational activities as assigned. Responsible for understanding and upholding regulatory requirements as stated by LABP, USP, TJC, CMS, and any other governing/accrediting body for OLOL. Ability to use Microsoft Office products, fax and copy machines and other office equipment as necessary. * Other duties as assigned. * Behavior and Leadership Responsibilities * Interacts professionally and appropriately with other healthcare professionals, OLOL team members, and external vendors or surveyors. * Demonstrates ability to coach/train other technicians and pharmacy students. * Demonstrates communication, professional knowledge and technical skill, continuous learning and exhibits a passion for the Mission, Vision and Values according to the Department of Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder Expectations. Education: High School or Equivalent Special Skills: Ability to effectively follow directions, analyze problems and interpret analytical data. Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service skills. Attention to detail to provide high quality care and accurate medication preparation. Certification/ License: Successful passing of the National Pharmacy Technician exam; State Pharmacy Certification
