Responsibilities:

Responsibilities
Fills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and for delivery, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy
Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels
Participates in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy
May check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves and remove out-of-date items from the inventory
Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding
Communicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner
May process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction
Assists in the training of new employees
Also performs at least one of the following:
Works in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room;
Works with automated machine to prepack drugs;
Manages inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identify expired medications, managing to the pharmacy standard for Days on Hand;
Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels (data entry);
Mixes/packages IV medications, sanitizes IV room, equipment and hood
Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow)
Performs other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in a pharmacy setting and with medical terminology. Ability to operate a computer; ability to recognize and identify medications. Detail oriented; goal oriented, team player, effective oral communication. Pharmacy Technician license (as required by state).
Desired: Long Term Care pharmacy experience & National Pharmacy Technician License.

Summary of Essential Functions:
Compound medications in a clean-room environment under general supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Assist with processing IV orders in CareTend when needed.
Pick orders from Compounding Record and/or Delivery Ticket, reviews for accuracy.
Ensure appropriate refill of orders.
Provide clients with drug information sheets, pump literature, etc.
Program infusion pumps according to orders.
Monitor and maintain inventory; orders and updates computer inventory as needed.
Process returns
Ensure adequate supply of disposable items and ensure kits are stocked and ready to be "picked."
Provide annual preventative maintenance on infusion pumps, and documents actions accordingly.
Take responsibility for self-protection while working in hazardous situations, and practices universal precautions.
Maintain patient confidentiality and rights.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Computer literate, skilled in basic math , and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills
Prior experience in retail pharmacy, compounding, or related medical experience preferred.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Standard office and sterile room environment with minimal to moderate noise level. Sterile room entry requires donning personal protective equipment. May include lifting moderately heavy boxes.

Count and sign on approved form, all narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys. Contact a supervisor immediately with discrepancies.
Order all necessary medication and treatments from appropriate pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply is no less than 7 days.
Notify supervisor when supply is less than 2 days and medicine hasn't been received.
Responsible for receiving and verifying all medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label and MAR. Notifies pharmacy and DH&W of any discrepancies.
Responsible for proper storage of all medications and ensuring all lotions, ointments and liquids stored separately from oral medications.
Responsible for dating all appropriate vials or bottles at time of initial opening and following pharmacy protocol on length of time they can be used.
Responsible for weekly inspections of all medications to ensure all expired medications are removed.
Responsible for verifying all current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notifying the supervisor of any discrepancies.
Responsible for removing all discontinued medication from med cart and giving it to the supervisor.
Provide personal care to residents to include, but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating, etc.
Provide general nursing care to include, but not limited to, vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
Document appropriate information in the daily log as required and notify supervisor of all concerns.
Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned.
Responsible for daily cleaning of all medicine carts at end of shift and restocking as needed.
Responsible for weekly deep cleaning of all med carts.
Attend and participate in staff training and in-services.
Must maintain accurate records to include preparation of all medical charts for new admissions and readmissions and ensures medical record is complete within forty-eight (48) hours as Policy and Procedure (P&P) and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications
Level of Formal Education: A High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

What you need:
Must posses an Associates of Applied Science Degree or higher degree from an approved collegiate or hospital based Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine or Therapy Program
Be CNMT or ARRT certified
PET certification preferred and must be pursued when hired if not already obtained.
CPR Certification
Must have at least 6 months of PET or PET/CT experience and have adequate on-the-job training on maintenance of equipment.
Able to identify or detect and correct any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions or, if unable to do so, able to contact proper resource for repair.
Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties. Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds. All requirements can be made with or without accommodation.
Additional :
Pay range for this position is $50 - $65/hr + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Assist with processing IV orders in CareTend when needed.
Pick orders from Compounding Record and/or Delivery Ticket, reviews for accuracy.
Ensure appropriate refill of orders.
Provide clients with drug information sheets, pump literature, etc.
Program infusion pumps according to orders.

Process returns

Computer literate, skilled in basic math, and attention to detail.

* Flags medication-related quality measure gaps (e.g. statin use, diabetes medication adherence, hypertension control) for pharmacist/provider review.
* Assists in preparing comprehensive medication review (CMR) materials for pharmacists.
* Serves as a liaison between providers, pharmacists, patients, and community pharmacies.
