Physical Requirements:
+ Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
+ Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), and field of vision.
+ Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:
This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a retail store setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks (filling scripts, answering telephone, waiting on customers, etc.) every day.There is an occasional exposure to dangerous chemicals/solvents while compounding products and chemotherapy drugs.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Routinely reviews computer medication profile for prescription duplication, therapeutic duplication, prescription noncompliance, allergies / adverse drug reactions, changes in medications, diet, health, alcohol consumption, signs and symptoms of bleeding/thromboembolic events, upcoming surgery or procedures, and falls. Reports identified patients to assigned clinical pharmacist for evaluation.
* Routinely reviews laboratory monitoring reports for selected disease states and identified patients with lab values beyond normal limits. Reports identified patients to assigned clinical pharmacist for evaluation.
* Routinely performs patient medical chart, medication profile, and action profile reviews to identify poly-pharmacy situations. Reports identified patients to assigned clinical pharmacist for evaluation.

Monitors the overdue for labs queue on the National VA DOAC Dashboard by reviewing CPRS, Vista images, or JLV for community based labs.
With the assistance of the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, the technician will communicate with physicians / providers regarding DOAC orders that are without refills or expired.

General Summary and Purpose:
While studying towards certification, within limits of current training, and under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and general supervision of a Licensed Technician, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will:
1. Learn how to prepare medication orders, including both sterile and non-sterile compounds. processing physician medication orders to ensure medications are promptly, accurately, and safely delivered.
2. Ensure all work meets regulatory compliance standards as related to the Pharmacy, Pharmacy Automation, Billing, and Inventory, USP 795 / 797.
3. Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Upon hire, must be enrolled and maintain enrollment in Trinity Health's ASHP Pharmacy Technician training program.
3. Skills: Basic aptitude for 8th grade math along with good written and verbal communication will be assessed at the initial interview.
4. Licensure: State dependent licensure requirements - application for temporary license upon hire, if required by state board of pharmacy. Full license upon completion if required.
5. Pharmacy Tech Trainee will be required to complete the 400 hours of training program and obtain PTCB certification within 180 days of hire.
6. Technology: Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
7. Capable of self-motivated and independent study.
8. Communication: Ability to deal with people at all levels and skills in various situations in a courteous and tactful manner following the Trinity Health Core Values.
Primary Job Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Complete ASHP didactic learning modules as assigned.
2. Achieve a passing score on all quizzes and test related to ASHP didactic learning.
3. Complete all experiential learning activities as assigned.

5. Follows all policies and procedures to allow for effective and efficient patient care.
6. Actively participate in department daily huddles.
7. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist or Licensed Pharmacy Technician:
a) Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
b) Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
c) Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department.
d) Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation; files documentation; answers telephone and pneumatic tube; and handles cash transactions.
e) Performs other related duties as assigned.
