The Pharmacy Medication Coordinator position is an essential role that impacts the lives of an underserved population that needs a voice. This onsite position is a liaison between a partner clinic and a Genoa mental health specialty pharmacy.
Primary responsibilities include building solid relationships with the clinic partners and communicating with consumers to assist them with their medication plan, insurance and the full services of the Genoa pharmacy. Primary Responsibilities:
Communicates with all consumers of the mental health center regarding the medication services Genoa provides
Recruits and enrolls consumers utilizing enrollment forms and copy the consumer's insurance card
Facilitates the collection of prescriptions to be faxed to the pharmacy for dispensing
Ensures all consumer insurance information is up to date in the Pharmacy system and is properly charged for the medications dispensed
Assists consumers in contacting the pharmacist regarding all their medication questions and ensure a prompt response to their questions
Assists clinic staff and pharmacy with prior authorizations and Patient Assistance programs as needed
Monitors compliance by contacting the consumer at least monthly to ensure compliance and determine refill needs as applicable
Prescription refill management by utilizing the no refill report and contacting the appropriate prescriber to ensure timely refills are completed and dispensed to the consumer
Medication delivery when needed and appropriate. {Only applicable in states that are allowed.}
Checks for expiration dates (both on consumer's medications as well as house account
products/standing order meds.)
Ensures that medications are stored properly (refrigerated drugs are kept in the refrigerator, pen-tips are not stored on insulin pens, etc.)
Checks for discrepancies (dose changes, discontinued medications, etc.)

Perform the duties of Technician Pharmacy I, II, and III as required. Perform a variety of pharmacy technician duties under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Detailed responsibilities:
* AUDIT - Develop, oversee and conduct various routine and special audits, research and correct data to maintain integrity of programs
* DATA - Enter various data into computer and forms, verify data, make corrections and ensure accuracy
* INVENTORY - Order medications from wholesaler and put order on pharmacy shelf when received. Load medication into distribution/dispensing technological solutions

Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician under the direct supervision of the (Market) Manager/Director of Pharmacy or Registered Pharmacist - and according to the standards procedures-dispenses additives for IV and irrigating solutions, mixes IV additive solutions as required using aseptic technique with the laminar air flow hood, types labels, prepares and files charge slips, and performs other related duties.
Essential Functions

Fills orders with correct medications. Prepares unit of use dosage when possible.
Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer.
Prepares intravenous (IV) packs.
Generates required reports; pick i.v., production reports. Performs backup procedures correctly.
Recycles product as appropriate. Changes prep and expiration date on recycled product.
Dates times and initials all vials for reuse.
Prioritizes work (i.e. stats made first). Delivers IVS to proper locations. Restocks shelves and rotates stock. Properly disposes of non-recyclable solutions. Maintains i.v. refrigerator temperature log.
Receives and stores incoming supplies.
Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
Returns medications to stock and rotates stock. Fills requisitions from Nursing floors in a timely fashion. Can calculate appropriate medication doses based on patient's age Adult and Geriatrics.
Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.

Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.

Initials "Bin-Fill Sheet" for nursing units filled.
Periodically during the shift, attends to the census list.
(1) When discharging patients, removes file folders, credits meds in-patient bins and returns all meds to stock.
(2) Transfers patients according to the census list.
f. Pulls medications for refilling the ADM's from the fill list and initials the Pyxis Fill Log for each unit filled.

Handles and triages phone calls appropriately. Provides answers to questions within scope of a technician's practice and refers other calls to pharmacists.

Education and Training Requirements:
Pharmacy Tech I:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
Active Pharmacy Technician License from the NM Board of Pharmacy.
Previous experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy highly desirable.
Pharmacy Tech II:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
Active Pharmacy Technician License from the NM Board of Pharmacy.
Must have passed the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam.
Full time technicians must complete the IV Admixture Training Program per NM Board of Pharmacy Training Guidelines within three (3) months, part time technicians six (6) months, and PRN technicians within nine (9) months.
Must complete IV Chemotherapy Training Program per NM Board of Pharmacy Guidelines within three (3) months of completing the IV Admixture Training Program unless exempted by the Policy Admixture and Administration of Chemotherapy.
Must pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam within 12 months of obtaining NM License.
