Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities. Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products. Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians. Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager. Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs. May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers. Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities. Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance. Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers. Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned. Training & Personal Development Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens. Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications. Perform pharmaceutical dispensing duties including filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling prescriptions, and entering orders into databases. Participation shall include, but not be limited to, appropriate medical examination, documentation, and reporting. At Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS), our pharmacies are embedded within our medical clinics with the purpose of providing affordable, accessible medications for all in our community. In addition to dispensing duties, Pharmacy Technicians function as part of the integrated care team to ensure patients have access to medications and help maintain clinic vaccine and medication inventories. PCHS Pharmacies operate Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with a 1hour lunch each day PCHS offers a variety of benefits, including a generous PTO allowance and 11 paid holidays Pharmacy Technicians may staff at any of our 6 locations, depending on coverage needs Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Accurately prepare and label prescription medications under pharmacist supervision * Process prescription orders and insurance claims * Assist in inventory management for pharmacy and clinic drug stock: order, receive, and store drug orders, check stock for outdates and recalled drugs, log outdates for destruction and reverse distribution, participate in physical inventory counts * Handle non-professional phone calls, such as: price quotes, prescription status updates, refill requests, appointment scheduling and prescription pickup reminders * Process prior authorization requests for PCHS Medical staff, review the medical chart for pertinent information, task pharmacist for clinical review * Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone * Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct reports. Pay Range $16.97 - $21.23 /HR DOE Qualifications * Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with Washington State DOH (required) * Valid driver's license (required) * Active CPR Certification within 30 days of hire (required) * One (1) year of customer service experience (preferred) Skills Must have excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; to receive and respond well to feedback. Possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; time-management and organizational skills, including being punctual, responsive, and efficient.
