Job DescriptionDescription: The Oncology Prescription Program Pharmacy Tech will be directly responsible for the support and facilitation of managing key initiatives and metrics surrounding the Oncology Prescription Program for the betterment of continued quality of care for the patients of Florida Urology Partners and our cancer centers. Support and project management shall include, facilitating the case management function for patients. Excellent communication skills needed for intra-office communications surrounding prescription status updates. Develop appropriate tracking mechanisms to ensure detailed and highly-organized itemizations of key processing phases, and maintaining all paperwork and correspondences associated with each prescription, as well as other closely-related duties and responsibilities. This role requires bilingual fluency in English and Spanish to effectively communicate with patients, providers, and team members. This position will alternate locations between our offices on 3140 S Falkenburg Rd, Riverview, FL 33578 and 601 S Armenia Ave, Tampa FL 33609. Must have adequate transportation to go between locations as required. This is a Monday through Friday position. Principle Accountabilities: Applies Organizational policies and procedures to the processing of all prescriptions throughout the Oncology division. Maintains a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the patient benefit process, including but not limited to, financial assistance, grants, insurance programs, and other closely related programs. Serves as the primary point of contact for patient inquiries concerning prescription status and refills. Assists the Manager, as needed, with obtaining the required authorizations and/or processing of financial assistance documentation. Ensures all appropriate notes are recorded in the designated electronic medical record and prescription program processing systems. Builds and maintains positive relationships with patients and/or their designated Health Care Guardian. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Verify information on prescriptions received prior to processing (correct prescriber, name of patient, patient information, medication, dose, quantity, number of refills, lot, and expiration date). Communicate with Louisville Knipper Pharmacy (LKP) representatives as necessary to ensure medication compliance, medication and supply inventory, and overall coordination of care and as applicable. Follow HIPAA and privacy law guidelines, and any other local or federal laws. Maintain all records including prescription logs and related files. Evaluate all completed prescriptions/authorizations to ensure that the appropriate information has been obtained to allow for compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Perform follow up on all outstanding prescriptions/authorizations and communicate discrepancies to pharmacist or PSC technicians. Perform problem solving on order delays. Maintain a clean and orderly work site. Perform routine and professional pharmacy functions. Accountable for checking patient history for any duplicate orders and follow proper procedures.
