Operations
Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.

Job Summary:

Handle and compound hazardous drugs (HDs) in compliance with USP guidelines.
Perform cleaning, decontamination, and garbing procedures in designated non-sterile hazardous areas.
Maintain clean and organized compounding workspaces, adhering to cross-contamination prevention protocols.
Accurately document all compounding processes and batch records.
Operate and maintain compounding equipment such as balances, homogenizers, and mixers.
Work collaboratively with the pharmacist and QA team to ensure batch accuracy and quality control.
Assist in inventory control and proper storage and labeling of raw materials, hazardous components, and finished products.

Responsibilities in this role

DiRx, an emerging digital health company is seeking Pharmacy Technicians as founding members to partner with us in developing a caring, empathetic, and personal experience for our pharmacy customers. Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for assisting our customers by dispensing the medicine they most desperately need to maintain their health, assisting the pharmacist in the day to day operations of our mail order operation and working with prescribers to help our customers get what they need quickly delivered right to their door.
The ideal candidate will have an exceptional eye for detail, the ability to multi-task without sacrificing quality and accuracy, loves a fasted paced environment, flexibility, a willingness to learn, and be at ease with change. Our Pharmacy Technicians are an integral part in our ability to deliver solutions to our customers to make maintaining their health easier by making sure the generic drugs they need are affordable and easy to obtain.
This position will be located in Fort Lauderdale, FL and will require presence at our physical pharmacy location.

REQUIREMENTS:
Receives, fills, and refills orders in compliance with federal, state and local laws and company policies.
Track order status and perform timely follow up.
Process prescriptions using multiple computer software programs accurately and efficiently.
Pull medications from shelves, ensuring accuracy in counting, labeling, and filling.
Back up other pharmacy staff with order entry, prescription refill authorizations, telephone lines, to ensure efficient support to patients.
Assists in the pack up of orders.
Understands, implements, and maintains Pharmacy Board Standards within the facility.
Working with pharmacists to ensure all customer?inquiries are resolved.
Looking for opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, and customer experience.
Make outbound calls to prescribers and patients as required.
Escalate requests to Pharmacist when request requires extensive clinical review or denial.
Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time. Requires standing for long periods of time.
Maintain HIPAA compliance in all functions of the position.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School (Required), Post-Secondary education preferred.
Active Pharmacy Technician registration in State of FL
National Certifications such as CPhT or ExCPT or PTCB is highly desired
Experience working in, mail-order pharmacy or in a health care setting required.
Spanish a plus
Use of Liberty Software a plus
SKILLS:
Good knowledge of prescription drugs, disease states, medical terminology, and ability to read and interpret prescriptions and directions.

Responsibilities
Fills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and for delivery, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy
Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels
Participates in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy
May check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves and remove out-of-date items from the inventory
Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding
Communicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner
May process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction
Assists in the training of new employees
Also performs at least one of the following:
Works in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room;
Works with automated machine to prepack drugs;
Manages inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identify expired medications, managing to the pharmacy standard for Days on Hand;
Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels (data entry);
Mixes/packages IV medications, sanitizes IV room, equipment and hood
Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow)
Performs other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in a pharmacy setting and with medical terminology. Ability to operate a computer; ability to recognize and identify medications. Detail oriented; goal oriented, team player, effective oral communication. Pharmacy Technician license.
