Provides comprehensive family medicine services within the scope of training and experience to people of all ages and genders.
Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job
Provides comprehensive primary care including, but not limited to, diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, coordination of care, referral, preventative care, and health maintenance to a dedicated panel of patients.
Participates fully in shared local urgent/emergent care on-call rotation.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation of services is accordance with SEARHC policy.
Provides optimal patient experience using strong listening and communication skills.
Builds long-term patient care relationships.
Consults SEARHC physician as needed for patient care and uses other access to specialists as needed (i.e., AristaMD, ANMC providers, etc.).
Provides medical services at facilities within the SEARHC care network and other facilities and locations listed in SEARHC's compact and funding agreement with the Indian Health Service.
Actively participates in SEARHC quality patient care initiatives and quality assurance programs.
Actively participates in provider meetings, clinic meetings, and SEARHC medical staff functions.
Other Functions
Depending upon the location and needs of the community served, participates in shared after-hours emergency call coverage.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
State of Alaska Medical License as an NP or PA
Board-certified in specialty by accrediting body.
Maintains active, unrestricted DEA registration.
Maintains active SEARHC medical staff privileges.
BLS for all positions.
ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certification within 1 year of start date for providers performing after-hours emergency work in remote clinics (e.g., Haines, Hoonah, Gustavus, Angoon, Kake, Klawock).
ALSO training is preferred for providers performing after-hours emergency work in remote clinics.
Experience Required
Two years of experience as a practicing provider
Additional clinical experience or training prior to practice as a licensed provider may be considered by the Medical Director of Primary Care Clinics to meet this minimum experience requirement.

As a Hanger Prosthetist and/or Orthotist, you will leverage exceptional training and an extensive collaborative clinical community nearly 1600 providers strong to provide or supervise the delivery of comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care. You will assess patients, formulate treatment plans, implement those plans, follow-up with your patients and participate in practice management. If you have not yet achieved certification, you will provide care under the direction of one of our certified clinicians.
You will enjoy combining your unique blend of clinical and technical skills to evaluate patients, custom design, fabricate and fit prostheses and/or orthoses to deliver exceptional outcomes for the patients you serve. Your Impact
Depending on the operational requirements, size of the Hanger Clinic and subject to limitations imposed by state and/or local law, your role may include some or all of the functions listed below.
Collaborate with physicians in the evaluation and analysis of a patient's need for prosthetic and/or orthotic services; recommend treatment options to physicians when necessary.
Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
Formulate design of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
Select materials, make cast measurements, model modifications, and layouts, taking into account new techniques and materials.
Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments.
Evaluate prosthetic and/or orthotic device on patient, adjust to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work.
Instruct patient in use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
Identify and reconcile issues/problems to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided.
Provide follow-up with patients and physicians.
Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health care professionals.
Utilize effective materials management, quality and performance processes to maximize device quality and medical efficacy, maintaining a proper balance with costs and operational/financial performance.
Meet with physicians, case managers and other referral sources to review prosthetic and/or orthotic services and capabilities; develop and enhance business relationships to identify and secure ongoing and future sources or referrals.
Plan and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets in coordination with management.
Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
May mentor residents or newly certified clinicians.
Provide assistance to other clinical staff.
Provide information to administrative staff to conduct reimbursement activities.
Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
May be asked to perform on-call, hospital calls, or float between more than one Hanger Clinic location.
Minimum Qualifications
Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC), or
A baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics, or the foreign equivalent, and current ABC Board-Eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics.
A valid driver's license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
In states where licensure is required, the ability to obtain and maintain state licensure may be required as well.
May be willing to consider candidates who are certified in one discipline who wish see patients in their certified discipline while simultaneously completing residency in the other discipline.
May be willing to consider candidates who are not certified or board-eligible but have at least 5 years of demonstrated past experience in providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under the supervision of a certified clinician.

Your Impact

* Collaborate with physicians in the evaluation and analysis of a patient's need for prosthetic and/or orthotic services; recommend treatment options to physicians when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
* Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC), or
* A baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics, or the foreign equivalent, and current ABC Board-Eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics.
* A valid driver's license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
* In states where licensure is required, the ability to obtain and maintain state licensure may be required as well.

Certified Orthotist Prosthetist treats and provides care to patients with disabling conditions of limbs and spine, amputations, and congenital deformities by planning fabrication of, writing specifications for, by fitting and preparing orthopedic braces and prosthetic limbs under guidance of and in consultation with physician. Evaluates and treats patients in accordance with current treatment techniques and protocols established by the Director. Responsibilities and Duties:
Review/formulate medical records, examine patients, evaluate and document functional loss and orthotic and/or prosthetic needs of patients; formulate orthotic patient prescriptions for optimal management of upper and lower limb orthotic anomalies, both congenital and acquired, in collaboration with physicians. Formulate prosthetic patient prescriptions for optimal management of upper and lower limb amputations, both congenital and acquired, in collaboration with physicians
Supervise the fabrication of orthotic and prosthetic devices and appliances to ensure that design and materials used meet patient needs and department standards, evaluate fit on patient to ensure proper fit, function, cosmesis and workmanship
Post materials used, cost and other pertinent information including nomenclature and cost to orthotic/prosthetic records to ensure accurate patient charges. Instruct patients on the limitations and proper use of orthotic devices and appliances; instruct patients regarding maintenance, storing and cleaning of devices and appliances
Consult with physicians, nurses, and physical therapists and vocational rehabilitation counselors regarding orthotic patient's needs. Conduct orthotic and prosthetic clinics for local organizations; participate in orthopedic clinics and continuing education courses. Establish prosthetic clinics to include treatment teams on patient progress and techniques.
Oversee orthotic fitters and technicians and liaisons, as needed
Perform on-call duties as assigned and scheduled
Other duties as assigned
Work Environment Possible exposure to contagious diseases, communicable diseases, or blood-borne pathogens. May work in homes, community, schools, job sites, clinics or in a normal patient care environment in an acute hospital setting. Possess current unrestricted driver's license, automobile insurance, and available automobile. Driving distances within service area from office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Qualifications: Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Physical Requirements:
Certified Orthotist Prosthetist by ABC or BOCO may also be board eligible from bachelor or master's program.
Employee must be eligible to be credentialed and hold privileges with all local hospitals
Experienced in Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
