Responsible for the design and layout of plumbing and fire protection systems. Essential Functions · Designs plumbing and fire protection portions of a project using engineering formulas and skills for ensuring safety and technical accuracy. · Reviews design project for code compliance. · Identifies and selects equipment from appropriate manufacturing catalogs for specific applications. · Ability to perform on-site investigations and surveys prior to design and during construction. · Coordinates the contract documents between engineering disciplines for architects. · Provides technical support to contractors throughout construction. · Performs his or her own drafting/design using AutoCAD and/or Revit and reviews own work for accuracy. · Performs hydraulic calculations using computer software. · Coordinates utility requirements with local utility companies including obtaining hydrant flow test data for project sites. Requirements: Qualifications · B.S. degree preferred in mechanical engineering with 2 to 5 years of job-related experience. · Ability to draft using AutoCAD and Revit software. · Strong oral and written skills. · Must be able to handle multiple tasks effectively... Typical projects will entail Municipal Infrastructure Civil Engineering with an emphasis on site planning, permitting, and municipal infrastructure design. * Leading and managing municipal infrastructure projects and client relationships in the Glastonbury area. * Development of professional, economical, and effective sets of plans and specifications. * Supervising, coordinating, and reviewing work of engineers, technicians, and designers. * Managing projects, overseeing, and delegating tasks, and engaging in design of projects. * Preparing agreements including scope, schedule, work plan, fees and monitors financial performance of projects. * Participating in career path planning and development, performance plans, mentoring, and resource sharing for supervised team members. * Cultivating personal business relationships and seeking opportunities for cross-selling to enhance and expand existing client relationships during and after projects. What you will need to succeed: * BS in an Engineering field required, Civil Engineering preferred. Advanced degree in the area of work specialization is desirable. * Registration as a Professional Engineer is required. * Minimum of 15 years of related industry & project management experience is required. * Effective manager of people with the ability to inspire, lead, communicate, support, and mentor. * Documented experience in serving municipal / civil / water / wastewater clients in Connecticut. * Sound mathematical skills are required. * Working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. * Strong leadership potential with a desire to develop into a management position. * Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required. Pipe network knowledge preferred. * Performs field inspections. Responsible for major electrical design determinations under the direction of the Project Manager. Essential Functions · Responsible for overall electrical technical content of a project using engineering formulas and skills for ensuring safety and technical accuracy. · Review design project for code compliance and perform code research as required to comply with applicable State, Local and Federal codes. Apply in depth knowledge of codes, including NEC, NFPA 72 and 101. · Monitor construction progress and C.A. correspondence to ensure accurate and timely responses to R.F.I.'s and related issues. · Review other teams design projects. · Participate in standards meetings within the electrical engineering discipline. · Identify and select equipment from appropriate manufacturing catalogs/websites for specific applications. · Collaborate with clients and clients' PMs to meet their objectives. · Perform on-site investigations and surveys prior to design. · Write electrical specifications thru completion. · Coordinate the contract documents between engineering disciplines and architectural details; participate in coordination meetings with owner/architect. · Provide technical support to contractors throughout construction. · Prepare reports, opinions, and recommendations for the approval of the Project Manager concerning the direction of the project. · Ensure timely delivery of all completed projects; meet project schedules set by the Project Manager. · Plan time of self and other electrical engineers/designers to ensure project is completed on time, on budget and is technically correct. · Act as technical advisor to junior staff regarding project assignments. · Perform design work using AutoCAD and Revit. · Present electrical design to owner/architect when required. · Serve as a field engineer during construction phase of a project. Requirements Requirements · Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with electrical systems. · BSEE or equivalent degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. · Proven design experience in the areas of building operation, energy use, and building electrical systems. · Must be able to use AutoCAD and Revit, for drafting and design to complete a project. · In depth knowledge of Electrical Engineering codes, including NEC, NFPA 72 and 101. · Must be able to travel and visit work sites as necessary to the job at the time convenient for the clients, contractors and building managers. · Maintain knowledge and skills in the particular area of expertise by attending conferences, reviewing scientific journals and participating in specific industry standards organizations such as NFPA, IES, etc. · PE license strongly preferred.
