At CESO, a Landscape Designer will work as part of the Landscape Architecture team, supporting the development of aesthetic, functional, and environmentally responsive site designs. Under the guidance of senior team members, a Landscape Designer will assist in the preparation of construction documents, graphic presentations, and technical analyses. This position provides foundational experience in landscape architectural practice, including exposure to site planning, planting design, grading, and detailing. A Landscape Designer will collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to support project goals and professional development objectives. Primary Responsibilities Under the direction of senior team members, assist in the preparation of landscape architectural construction documents, including site layout, hardscape, planting, irrigation, and lighting plans. Support the development of 2D and 3D visualizations using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and Lumion. Assist in due diligence efforts by conducting research on site conditions, environmental constraints, jurisdictional and ordinance requirements, and document all findings. Participate in internal project meetings and contribute to design discussions. Perform revisions as marked up and directed by senior team members and self-check completed work for accuracy and compliance with company standards. Assist in the coordination of design elements with other disciplines, including civil engineering and architecture. Prepare base files and convert digital data into usable formats for design and documentation. Participate in site visits to observe and document project progress and assist in preparing site reports. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field is required. 0-3 years of professional experience in landscape architecture is preferred. Internship/Co-ops may be counted towards years of experience. Progression toward Landscape Architecture Registration is encouraged. Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), Lumion, and Bluebeam. Knowledge regarding land-use activities. Experience in simultaneously balancing multiple projects is preferred. Ability to function independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. Your Opportunity As an Engineer-in-Training with a Structural Emphasis, your role is to work with general supervision, mentorship, and direction on projects under the guidance of Senior Structural Engineers and mid-level Engineers. You will perform or develop structural evaluations, analyses, calculations, design drawings, recommendations, and specifications for engineered systems or products for projects verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices. Your Key Responsibilities - Perform preliminary and detailed structural analysis and design for Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, Reservoirs, other Hydraulic Containment Facilities, Industrial and Administrative Buildings - Design, analyze and specify primarily reinforced concrete, masonry and structural steel systems and buildings - Support an engineering Team responsible for evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering all structural engineered systems or products for a project - Support an engineering Team responsible for the preparation and revisions to documentation in various structural phases including conceptual design, detailed design, and construction support. - Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats - Utilize computing technologies for the development of three-dimensional models of structural systems - Support project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors - Support preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents - Prepare structural calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software - Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, and drafting correspondence. - Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the structural group - Work on multiple projects, simultaneously - Review Contractor's shop drawing and submittals regarding structural work and investigating and developing engineered solutions to Contractor's Requests for Information. - Assist technical staff in field activities including structural observations, monitoring and other fieldwork - Working in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies. Your Capabilities and Credentials - Collegiate-level knowledge and application of structural design codes and standards (CBC/IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and/or ACI 350, TMS 402, AISC 360), and the application of these provisions - Introductory understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications - Fundamental knowledge of structural mechanics and principles, structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards - Ability to manage time to meet project budget and schedule - Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought - Effective oral and written communication skills - Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite - Working knowledge of 3D models and 2D structural engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCad and the ability to produce models or drawings - Experience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software such as STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, RISA is preferred - Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering required; Master's degree preferred - Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience - Engineer Intern (EI) certification in Ohio required.
