Responsibilities: MV Transportation is seeking a Transit General Manager who will provide support, leadership and direction to assigned operation location to ensure service delivery of a large fixed route service in the Greater LA region. This position will manage the service and provide direct oversight of annual business plans. He/she will control the daily operation of our transportation contract, in compliance with the policies of the contracting agency and in conformance with company procedures. The ideal candidate is organized, can foster mutual trust, is process-oriented, has a can-do attitude, and possesses outstanding customer service skills. This position will be the primary client interface and will be responsible for the service delivery and operation of an innovative transit program. Job Responsibilities: Ensure daily operations and service delivery are provided according to contract scope of service. Effectively manage client relationships and adherence to operating contract and MV policies and procedures. Effectively manage customer relations through both direct contact and outreach programs. Identify, select, train and mentor location staff. Take actions necessary to create a positive culture with MV values, client mission and to reinforce safety and high employee morale. Effectively and frequently communicate with location staff and support team members. Direct the activities of subordinate employees, including Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Training, Security, and Administrative staff. Oversee vehicle maintenance program and ensure fleet availability to meet service requirements. Coordinate all safety and training programs, plans and processes to ensure compliance withcompany, contract and regulatory requirements. Develop/establish and oversee any subcontractors ensuring operational effectiveness and compliance with any applicable contractual and performance standards. Ensure all staff are trained and utilizing provided technology in accordance with contract standards and used to improve and mitigate service issues daily. Maintain client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations. Conduct periodic departmental audits for optimization and efficiency. Daily, weekly and monthly review of key operational metrics. Ensure that all location financial metrics are managed continuously, exceptions are reported, and action plans are developed to ensure the location meets its financial, safety and operational expectations. Implement, promote and adhere to company policies and procedures. Responsible for invoicing and other reporting requirements of the contract and/or Company and Client. Actively participate in location(s) labor and employee relations activities. Provide insight and information to support location(s) contract renewals. Qualifications: Talent Requirements: Completion of a four (4) year college degree in a relevant field is desirable, although relevant education obtained through alternative methods will be considered. Extensive management experience required. A minimum of five (5) years experience as a general manager with a revenue fleet of over 100 vehicles. A minimum of eight (8) years progressive experience in the operation, administration and supervision of fixed route and demand responsive transit. Experience with ZEB operations preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a proven ability to grow and adapt quickly, and proven performance and expertise at providing a high-quality innovative service to the community. Must have labor union negotiations expertise and experience managing a collective bargaining agreement. Planning and Service Design experience is a plus. Must have a full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance. MS Office, strong analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and high degree of multi-tasking skills. Additional duties/responsibilities based upon individual contract requirements.
