The Psychiatrist at Hudson County Correctional Facility will be responsible for the delivery of psychotherapy, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a contract facility. The Psychiatrist will also act as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and a liaison with other medical disciplines.
The Psychiatrist diagnoses and treats patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, organizes data concerning patient's family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from patient, relatives, and other sources, such as nurse and social worker.
Examines patient to determine general physical condition, following standard medical procedures.
Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained. Determines nature and extent of mental disorder, and formulates treatment program. Treats or directs treatment of patient, utilizing variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education - Completion from an accredited medical school facility with an MD or DO degree Completion of a US based residency program in a mental health facility.
Current, unrestricted license to practice psychiatry in the state the facility is located in (maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times) designated Forensic Evaluator preferred. .
Minimum Work Experience
Experience with mental health delivery systems.
Experience in providing services in inpatient/outpatient environment. .
Experience in providing services in a correctional environment preferred

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs and documents psychiatric assessments and evaluations on inmate patients referred by the nursing/professional staff of the assigned correctional facility consistent with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards of care, American Psychological Association (APA), NJ 10-A, American Correctional Association (ACA) and Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) as appropriate.
Provision of full range of psychiatric services to assigned patients. Services provided include direct care of patients in the clinical setting including: assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of patients and determining the degree of disabilities in patients. Psychiatrist will prescribe medication to patients as deemed necessary and will conduct medication management. All services to be documented in the patient's medical record
Analyze and evaluate patient data and test findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder
In conjunction with the mental health director, supports and provides direction for the psychiatric and behavioral health care delivery system and coordinates with the other functions within the institution.
Meets regularly with the site mental health and medical staff for mental health issues as requested.
Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders as allowed by state regulations and under the guidelines of the approved CFG formulary.
Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.

Participates in treatment team activities to include the development and periodic review of patient treatment plans and will take necessary steps when a patient refuses treatment.
Conducts and reviews forensic evaluations
Follows and enforces security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
Contributes to behavioral health program development, policies, and evaluation.
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
Promotes a therapeutic environment to ensure inmate patients are treated in a professional, ethical and tactful manner.
Confer with patient's relatives regarding illness and treatments.

Bridgeway Behavioral Health Services, in partnership with CFG Health Network, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Part-Time Psychiatrist to provide direct in-person psychiatric care for two community-based teams located in Little Falls, NJ. This role offers a consistent once-per-week, in-person schedule while supporting adults living with serious mental illness in a recovery-oriented model. This role can be fulfilled by one or two providers.
