    The Psychiatrist at Mercer County Correctional Facility in Lambertville, will be responsible for the delivery of psychotherapy, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a contract facility. The Psychiatrist will also act as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and a liaison with other medical disciplines. The Psychiatrist diagnoses and treats patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, organizes data concerning patient s family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from patient, relatives, and other sources, such as nurse and social worker. Examines patient to determine general physical condition, following standard medical procedures. Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained. Determines nature and extent of mental disorder, and formulates treatment program. Treats or directs treatment of patient, utilizing variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications. Required Skills Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills. Ability to make decisions independently. Assertive, empathetic and able to provide care objectively. Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Basic computer skills. Process medication changes; make follow-up calls, as needed. * Make recommendations regarding youth health status as to the need for additional assessment, evaluation, primary care visits, unscheduled psychiatric visits, etc. * Provide direction in the event of a medical emergency. * Support all residential programs by responding to medical issues that need an RN's attention. Lead RN Responsibilities: * Create and maintain medical records. * Perform weekly medical chart audits. * Review medical policies as needed for compliance and accuracy. * Conduct and supervise youth admissions to ensure all necessary documentation is complete. * Update each youth's weekly medication sheet, recording and dating all changes. * Complete medication disposal logs twice per month and return all unsuited medications to the pharmacy at least twice a month. * Create and maintain a medical appointment log book necessary for staff to take youth to their appointments. * Coordinate all written prescriptions (including obtaining consent when necessary, sending orders to the pharmacy, ensuring timely delivery of medications, and tracking medication distribution). * Physically work on all programs. * Schedule and facilitate mandatory RN staff meetings monthly and as needed. * Review RN meeting agenda items and minutes with all RNs who are unable to attend (to include all per diem nurses). * Provide clinical and administrative supervision to all RNs to include 15 minutes of individual supervision monthly and as needed. * Create and manage the RN schedule. * Actively participate in problem-solving for nursing staff in difficult situations; serve as central resource for nursing staff. Manage and track RN "call outs" including appropriate use of PTO, notifying the Administrative Assistant for documentation in the employee's HR file, and notifying the program in the event of a call-out to ensure proper coverage. * Recommend corrective action plans to the Program Director as needed. The Program Director will be responsible for implementing the corrective action plan. * If a corrective action plan is needed and there are clinical implications to the situation, the Lead RN will consult with the APN as needed. The recommendation for corrective action will then be made to the Program Director. * Participate in the interviewing and hiring of RN's. * Train all new RN and BCS staff on the procedures of medication administration and documentation. Specific Job Functions: Relationships: * Establish supportive, motivational and therapeutic relationships with youth, ensuring an atmosphere of safety, security and responsible residential care. Supervision: * Responsible for daily supervision and being aware of where all youth are at all times. Daily Living: * Supervise, observe and participate with the youth in the carrying out of daily routines (i.e. meals, school, chores, etc.). * Serve as a role model and coach for youth regarding developing and using effective problem solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, independent living skills and responsibilities. * Know current level of functioning of youth and appropriate needed interventions. * Observe and document the youth's behavior, physical and emotional symptoms and perform behavioral management interventions as needed. * Responsible for reading and being familiar with all youth's treatment plans. * Carry out daily living and/or behavior plans for youth, developed by a multi-disciplinary team of staff. * Assist youth with skill building activities. Programming: * Accountable for maintaining structure and following the daily schedule. * Develop, plan, supervise and participate in daily recreational and social activities, including outdoor programs and physical exercise. * Consistently implement all program policies and procedures including the behavioral motivational system. * Promote and generate enthusiasm for programming. * Consult and communicate with supervisors, directors and clinicians concerning behavior issues and the needs of the youth and the program. * Perform light housekeeping duties to ensure a neat, clean and orderly environment. * Transport and/or accompany individual or groups of youth to appointments or on community outings outside of the program. * Conduct group meetings with youth to discuss program rules and procedures, address concerns and provide instructional information on appropriate behavior management and the use of daily living skills. * Administer medication when necessary. Other: * Familiar with all co-worker's job functions so that appropriate internal referrals can be initiated as needed (i.e. nurse, clinician, and principal). * Assigned to mandatory extra shifts when needed. * Takes on special tasks to contribute to the overall functioning of the program (i.e., ordering supplies, shopping, fire drills, pharmacy runs, errands, etc.). Aid in the training of new employees on the job. * Drive program's vehicles as requested. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education anddemonstratedcompetencies. **Key Responsibilities** + Under RN supervision, assesses patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed. + Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. + Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. + Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. + Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care. **Additional Details** 32 hours 7-3 8 hours 3-11 on Every other weekend will be a double shift 7-3, 3-11. **Qualifications & Requirements** Education + Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
