Duties:
Conduct audits of managed care claims to verify accuracy, appropriateness, and adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements.
Identify billing anomalies, upcoding, unbundling, duplicate billing, or other indicators of fraud, waste, or abuse.
Analyze claim data using audit software and data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, SAS, SQL, Power BI).
Review and interpret managed care contracts, payer policies, fee schedules, and medical records as needed to support audit findings.
Prepare detailed reports with findings, supporting documentation, financial impact, and recommended corrective actions.
Collaborate with internal departments (billing, coding, compliance, legal) and external stakeholders (payers, providers) to resolve discrepancies.
Stay current with industry regulations, CMS guidelines, and payer-specific billing requirements.
Support investigations of potential fraud or overpayment recovery efforts.
Assist in the development of audit methodologies, risk assessments, and process improvement initiatives.

Duties:
1. Operational Management:
Provide tailored education to patients and families regarding orthopedic and cardiac procedures, recovery expectations, and self-care.

Ensure timely scheduling of surgeries, diagnostic imaging, consultations, and rehabilitation services.

Work collaboratively with the performance improvement team to achieve accreditation standards and improve patient outcomes.
2. Staff Management:
Conduct education for staff on the patient types and case studies with ongoing coaching.
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
3. Patient Care:
Ensure that patients receive high-quality care in accordance with their treatment plans.
Monitor patient progress and adjust care strategies as necessary.
Address patient and family concerns with empathy and professionalism.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
Prepare for and participate in inspections and audits.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
Review and Develop a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such in collaboration with the organization's regulatory oversite to the governing board and ombudsman representative as required.
5. Financial Management:
Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure financial sustainability.
Implement cost-control measures while maintaining quality care.
6. Quality Improvement:
Develop and monitor quality improvement initiatives.
Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in patient care and operational efficiency.
Lead staff training on quality improvement practices.
Participate in Infection Prevention practices.
7. Committee Functions:
Serve on various committees of the facility and provide written/oral reports of such committee meetings as directed or as may become necessary
Assist Quality department in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified quality deficiencies
Evaluate and implement recommendations from the facility's committees as necessary.
8. Safety:
Ensure all facility personnel, visitors, etc., follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection prevention, etc.
Ensure the building and grounds are maintained in good repair.
Review accident/incident reports and establish an effective accident prevention program.
Ensure all personnel follow established regulations governing the use of labels and MDSs for hazardous materials.
Ensure that facility procedure manuals identify safety precautions and equipment to use when performing tasks that could cause bodily injury.
Ensure that facility personnel follow established ergonomics policies and procedures.
Ensure that all facility personnel performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous materials participate in in-service training program prior to performing such tasks.
9. Patient Rights:
Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

**Purpose Statement/Position Summary:** The Kuo Lab at CHLA is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our research program as an Associate Research Specialist. The ideal candidate should be able to follow protocols accurately, maintain meticulous records, and effectively present data and results to the research team. This role also offers the opportunity to learn and apply techniques and methods essential to molecular biology and cancer biology studies. The Associate Research Specialist will perform basic molecular biology work, including but not limited to DNA extraction/isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing prep, RNA extraction, qRT-PCR, protein extraction/quantification, enzyme assays, cell culture, and microscopy/imaging. The specialist will also receive training in the use of zebrafish models.
The Kuo lab focuses on the tumor immune microenvironment of Ewing sarcoma. We are particularly interested in the cross-talk and signaling networks between immune cells-especially tumor-associated macrophages-and cancer cells. To advance this work, we leverage a novel immunocompetent zebrafish genetic model of Ewing sarcoma (developed by Drs. Vasileva and Amatruda: PMID 35285802) and human Ewing sarcoma tumor samples to gain deeper insights into the tumor immune microenvironment.
**Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:** Experience working in a laboratory environment required; Preferred 1+ years experience performing laboratory research. Proficient in word, excel, and powerpoint.
Prior experience working with animals in a research setting is highly valued, as is a background in molecular and cancer biology. Principal investigator is willing to provide training for those who may lack specific experience.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Clinical Informaticist will be responsible for identifying appropriate solutions, making recommendations and carrying out the appropriate design, build, and tests to meet business requirements of the healthcare team utilizing the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Clinical Research Assistant assists Principal Investigator with the development and implementation of research activities conducted in the enterprise. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: subject recruitment, consenting families, assisting with research, data entry and analysis, grant preparation, professional presentations and preparation of manuscripts for publication.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Clinical Research, subject recruitment, protocol knowledge, consenting families, assisting with research, and analysis experience preferred. Ability to accurately enter data into the computer system. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet skills required. Basic filing, typing and organizing skills. Ability to speak and understand Spanish preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred in related scientific field preferred. Certified clinical research associate/coordinator preferred.
Pay Scale Information
$43,680.00-$65,062.00

Position Summary
