About Us:
This special appointment provides a stipend of $5,760 for the Spring 2026 academic year and a tuition waiver up to 9 credit hours which can be applied to any academic session offered during the remaining academic year, including the trailing summer term. All fees will be the responsibility of the student regardless of online or on-campus enrollment. A total (maximum) of 320 hours of work is required for this Graduate Assistantship per semester. Typically, twenty (20) hours of work will be assigned per week by your supervisor during the Academic Semester. No more than 40 hours may be worked in any given week. Withdrawal from all classes, failure to maintain graduate academic standards or completion of a graduate degree at any point during the academic year will result in the termination of this appointment and proration of stipend payments.

Nature of Work: Provide academic advising and coaching for adult learners, stop-out/reentry students, and completers served through the Reengage Nebraska Grant. Duties include academic advising, financial aid navigation, prior learning assessment, and degree pathway planning. Contact may be on an individual or group basis, both in person and virtually, with flexible scheduling (including evenings and weekends) to align with student schedules.
Examples of Work Performed:
This collaborative position works with CSC units, PSC, WSC, and system stakeholders to support student success by engaging and advising stop out /reentry students served through the grant. The position will coordinate outreach, provide support, provide academic coaching/advising, manage referrals, and support a caseload of Reengage Nebraska students. The position is designed to assist with data collection, reporting, intervention, and advising that promotes student success and provides academic coaching/advising. Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to identify and address obstacles to student success.
A flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, to conduct outreach and provide personalized support vital to adult learner success is required. After hours and weekend meetings and outreach with individuals and student groups at various campus locations will be required to provide personalized support vital to student success.
Advising: Assist Reengage Nebraska students in developing and implementing a study plan, track academic progress, and understand financial aid opportunities and responsibilities.
Refer Reengage Nebraska students to campus resources when appropriate. (Counseling, Student Health, Career Services, Financial Aid, Disabilities Office, etc.) Meet with prospective Reengage Nebraska students to explain and answer questions about CSC academic and support programs.
Retention: Provide programmatic support relating to early alert and academic advisement for Reengage Nebraska students who are identified as "at-risk," establishing an academic success plan, identifying academic goals and help them to develop strategies to achieve those goals.
In support of retention efforts, establish mastery of features, utilization, and configuration of retention software packages to ensure these programs are configured to optimize CSCwork with Reengage Nebraska students. These software packages will be utilized to communication and support students not enrolled in next academic term, "low" midterm grade report, and excessive absences.
Completer Program: Coordinate the Attain Nebraska (Associate of General Studies) and Return to Learn and Earn (bachelor's completion) initiatives at Chadron State College.
Market, communicate, and coordinate with stakeholders and external vendors (InsideTrack and CollegeAPP).
Collaborate with the Registrar's Office and Academic Affairs to award AGS degrees, facilitate reverse transfer pathways, and expand use of credit for prior learning.
Recruit, support, and advise Reengage Nebraska students seeking to return to CSC Serve as the main contact and coach for students enrolled in the Reengage Nebraska program. Track, analyze, and report participation, persistence, and completion outcomes to inform evaluation and continuous improvement.
