At the height of the 1920’s nursery school movement, they transformed their San Francisco home into a pre-school.

In 1935, after discovering the rampant overcrowding of the local public schools, Margaret Chadwick opened Chadwick Open Air School in San Pedro, Calif., enrolling two of her three children.

And so, in 1938, the Chadwick Seaside School officially opened.

On January 13, 2010, the school announced that it would be administering and integrating a sister school in South Korea.
