Summary:
Perform duties involving the sawing of raw materials and bar stock materials to specified sizes for further processing operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:
Work from bills of material, blueprints, sketches and instructions from supervision.
Determine stock needs and sawing procedures to utilize material with minimal drop loss.
Feed and remove material from saw manually or with crane and saw to size.
Direct machine operator in material handling and sawing functions.
Perform inspection of sawed pieces to maintain specified quality.
Service saw by changing dull or damaged saw blades, oiling, greasing and adjusting equipment.
Use forklift equipment and floor controlled overhead crane equipment as necessary to move parts and materials; use care to lift and balance loads properly; operate equipment in a safe manner.
Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision.
Use powered shear, hand tools including hammer, wrenches, dividers, calipers, compass, tape measure, straight edge and rule.
Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for cutting to correct size and dimensions various grating products as defined by the job orders.
Responsible for the verification of cutting accuracy while optimizing material usage. Accurately review all daily job orders in order to maximize efforts when cutting stock materials.
Accurately complete all paperwork and time sheets to properly manage inventory. Ability to maintain quantity and quality standards to maintain production levels.
Safe operation and use of various power tools.
Safe operation and usage of forklifts and overhead cranes to assist in the movement and placement of materials.
Work with other members of a team of fabricators.
Troubleshoot and assist operators with fabrication or related questions in the business units as required.
Understanding and knowledge of all materials being cut and the nuances associated.
Knowledge and understanding of the routine preventative maintenance of equipment. Keep personal and common work areas clean and organized.
Perform other duties and cross-train as assigned by supervision.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES: A High School diploma or equivalent is required. The candidate must have be able to operate all forms of SawOperation Equipment with 3 or more years of training and/or demonstrated experience as required. The use and safe operation of various hand and power tools are also required. The candidate must also be able to read and understand standard and metric measures and be able to add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10s and 100s without the use of a calculator. Candidates must be a team player and have the ability to read, interpret and comprehend blueprint drawings Candidates with two or more years' experience with overhead cranes or forklifts and two or more years of prior manufacturing experience with a steel or aluminum manufacturer are preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee engages in repetitive movement tasks that require the employee to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, grasp, push and pull grating material of various size and weights for long periods of time. The employee will regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Such tasks must be undertaken using proper lifting techniques and may be performed with help from another employee and/or other available resources (e.g. lifting or moving equipment).
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the essential duties of this job the employee is regularly working on the production floor. The work environment requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The employee will experience exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis and is exposed to machine and tool hazards that require care and attention to safety rules and standards.

SUMMARY
This position operates various pieces of equipment to fabricate materials (Punch, Plasma, Ficep, Saw, Drill, Bridgeport, Tap, Pipe Tap) per specifications in conjunction with customer quality requirements and United Alloy manufacturing philosophies. Monitoring machine performance and efficiency are essential.
This is a first shift position with the hours of Monday - Thursday, 5:00am- 3:00pm with mandated overtime based on business need.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Must be able to set up and run in all fabrication work areas
Understand how to manage daily work expectations and goals
Understand, interprets, and follows foreman's report including priorities and start dates
Understand how to read material sheet tags and determines material types and gauges
Understand cross check concepts and inspects product according to Inspection Control Plan
Follow all safety policies and standards
Is capable and willing to train other employees
Understand non-conforming process according to SOP-0003
Maintain accurate and timely system transactions
Can inspect and clean equipment including all preventative maintenance

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

On-the-job training will be provided for new operators regarding safety procedures, how to use the machines and how to operate the computer program.
