Participates in the hire of all faculty and staff for the district.
Oversees and evaluates the performance of clerical staff.
From time to time, designated in an acting capacity by supervisor.

Performance of this job will be evaluated, annually and in accordance with provisions of the School Board's policy on evaluations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
JOB GOAL:
The Jr. High/High School Principal will coordinate administrative oversight and plan all phases of instructional leadership for the school including educational programming, administration, budgetary planning, discipline, and counseling services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):
Ensures a productive learning environment through continual collaboration with teachers, students, and parents
Facilitates opportunities to connect with students by being present and available during arrival and dismissal, by appearing at school functions, and by meeting with students
Enforces disciplinary policies and procedures with students
Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of the students
Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions
Supervises the preparation of school reports
Makes recommendations concerning the school's administration and instruction
Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students and building staff
Assists in the management and preparation of the budget
Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students
Acts as liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life
Facilitates special conferences between parents and teachers as needed
Recommends the removal of any staff member whose job performance is unsatisfactory according to established procedures
Participates in parent meetings and conferences and acts as intermediary between parents, teachers, and students to deal with a variety of needs or issues
Maintains competency and student academic achievement as prescribed by the school board
Assists in the recruiting, hiring, training, assigning, and at times, evaluation of district personnel
Presides over and conducts staff meetings for the proper functioning of the school
Delegated authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the building principal
Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business
Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program
Ensures completion of routine and required paperwork including attendance reports, test results, and licensing information for students, educators, staff, and school management
Ensures that necessary maintenance and repairs to the school property are performed
Coordinates staff development for faculty and staff; provides instruction if needed
Oversees the allocation of supplies and equipment
Oversees and implements the school budget, approving new programs, and expenditures as appropriate
Represents the school in community activities and meetings
Interacts with various stakeholders to foster a positive relationship between the school and community including through a PTA or parent interaction and inclusion, community organizations, and local government/community leaders
Acts as liaison between the district and the school; communicates needs and information to both sides
Collaborates with other principals and educators throughout the district to choose and develop curriculum and textbooks that align with local, state, and national standards

**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:**
