1906

In 1906, the Waterloo Cream Separator Co. was at 2nd and Water with no Chamberlains on the board or at least listed.

In 1906 the name was changed to Chamberlain Machine Works, and they remained at 407 Sycamore.

1912

Across the tracks from the National Gas Engine Co. was the John T. Handt Tractor Company which was formed about 1912 with C. C. Butler vice-president.

1915

By 1915, Chamberlain no longer needed the 321 Lafayette Bldg. address, so the Sheldon Gas Engine Co. was using it with Mr.

1920

It is unknown how long engines were produced by Chamberlain in Waterloo, but some of the Miss Simplicity engines still sat on the factory floor in 1920.

Frank Bouck remembers a few of the Interstate Tractors still sitting around in 1920, though somewhat stripped.

1928

The Sheldon Gas Engine Company ceased all operations by 1928.

1929

The banner year for wringers at Chamberlain was in 1929.

In 1929, the Chamberlain Machine Works name was changed to the Chamberlain Corporation.

1930

1930 edition of Official Directory of Corporations of Milwaukee, Wisconsin lists "Chamberlain Mnfg.

After World War I, Chamberlain Machine Works moved out on E. 4th Street into the National Gas Engine Company building, and maintained the 407 Sycamore location as a warehouse until it was razed in the late 1930’s.

1952

It was after the Second World War, in 1952 to be exact that A.J. Thrall and Dick Duchossois joined forces to form a corporation with Dick becoming the president and A.J. Thrall successfully growing the company into manufacturing new rail cars.

Only C. E. Butler of Galloway made a cream separator after World War II, and he also closed for good about 1952.

1954

In 1954, the company marketed a garage door opener named Genie, the first mass-produced, radio-controlled residential garage door opener.

1984

The new acquisition was assimilated into the group in 1984 as the consumer products division of the TDG and was named the Chamberlain Group, Inc.

1989

It was in 1980’s that the company acquired the Chamberlain Group and became its sole owner in 1983. It was in 1989 that the company made its first mark in the market with the introduction of the industry’s first ever wireless, keyless entry system.

1994

Overhead Door Corporation purchased Genie in 1994.

It was in 1980’s that the company acquired the Chamberlain Group and became its sole owner in 1983. It acquired Gasselschaft of Germany and Wecla of France (both are makers of GDOs and gates) in 1994 and signaled its entry into the European market.

1998

Immediately after that, in 1998, the group acquired The Clicker Corporation a manufacturer of universal remote transmitters based in Carlsbad, California and Moore-O-Matic of Wisconsin, another manufacturer of garage door openers and gate operators.

2002

This was followed with the acquisition in 1997of Sentex of Chatsworth, California which is a manufacturer of telephone entry systems. It made its final acquisition in 2002 with the purchase of the assets of Atlas commercial door operators from another competitor the Clopay Building Products Company.
