Champion transformed women's athletic market by introducing stylish, mix-and-match Physical Education uniforms in 1968.
During the 1970’s Champion continued to innovate in their athletic apparel program and transcended what it meant to be a true athletic brand by becoming the first Company to produce the Double Sided (or reversible) T-Shirt.
1970 Champion became famous for creating the hooded sweatshirt.
1977 Invented the first sports bra.
1980 Champion became the official outfitter of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Champion's jerseys were proudly worn by the first men's"Dream Team" – the first American Olympic basketball team to feature active professional players from the NBA and the first women's Dream Team in 1996.
2000 The original, heavyweight line of sweatshirts, tee shirts, sweatpants and shorts, all bearing the iconic Champion "C" logo.
But following 2006’s takeover by HanesBrands, the brand lost some of its sparkle to fragmented licensing deals and generic products.
2017 Champion is a global, authentic brand for athletes and active people.
In 2018, the hoodie became part of the permanent collection.
