The investment team's goal is to build a world-class investment portfolio to help fund CZI's ongoing operations over the long-term. The investment program pursues a “manager of managers” approach, scouring the globe to find extraordinary investment organizations that invest across a wide spectrum of styles and asset classes. The team is led by Chief Investment Officer David Lee, and includes three other executive assistants.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Executive Assistant to provide administrative support for two Managing Directors and the broader marketable team. The support will range from scheduling travel and meetings, drafting correspondence, processing expense reports, coordinating internal processes, and organizing team events, among other duties related to investments.
We have a “one team, one portfolio” approach, in which every team member takes ownership for our collective success. Candidates should be comfortable with a fast-paced environment and eager to be part of building our investment organization. They will possess an ability to navigate ambiguity effectively and be collaborative, hungry to learn, nimble and proactive. Applicants must have strong communication skills, incredible attention to detail, must be able to work independently, and always be one step ahead. The person in this role will need to be a masterful problem-solver and an organizational whiz.
What You'll Do
Manage an extensive array of administrative tasks for the senior leaders on the team that require you to organize logistics: wrangle hectic calendars and prioritize time, book travel, plan events, etc.
Anticipate the needs of the senior leaders and proactively seek appropriate resources to support the team
Work collaboratively with our existing EAs to coordinate on administrative priorities and contribute to projects outside of normal scope when needed
Manage expense reporting
Organize and manage document library of communications related to our investment portfolio (letters, legal documents, performance statements, etc)
Other tasks as requested, including but not limited to investment support work
What You'll Bring
7+ years of professional experience with related administrative, operations or project management work in a fast-paced environment
Experience supporting senior level leaders in the banking or finance industry is preferred, but not required

This Legal Counsel - Investments role will report to the Legal team but be embedded with and focused on the Investment team's work-advising on legal and regulatory matters, supporting fund negotiations and diligence, and helping ensure compliant and effective investment execution.
The Opportunity
CZI is seeking a thoughtful and mission-aligned investment legal attorney to join our Investments team, with a direct reporting line to CZI's General Counsel and a dotted line to the Investment team. This is CZI's first dedicated investment legal counsel role-an exciting opportunity to help shape and build the legal foundation for our growing investment program.
You will be fully integrated into the Investment team's legal work, partnering closely with investment professionals and outside counsel on the legal aspects of public and private fund investments, co-investments, and related opportunities. You will bring prior experience advising on fund matters and apply that expertise as you collaborate with investment professionals in structuring, reviewing, and negotiating deals that span tax-exempt and taxable entities.

The Opportunity

The President of the Virtual Cell Models program will join our Science Leadership team, reporting to our Head of Science.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Vision
Direct the overall scientific vision and strategy for the Virtual Cell Models program, including key decisions about key biological questions, model organisms, cell types, and the systems our organization will prioritize
Build, lead and manage a major initiative within CZI, including recruiting and inspiring world-class scientists and engineers, organizing this initiative for optimal success, and driving teams to execute on multiple complex projects, often on accelerated timeframes
Maintain scientific excellence across all data types and computational approaches used in this initiative
Ensure integration of diverse biological data into cohesive, multi-scale models that advance understanding of cells and their function
Develop clear roadmaps and timely plans for resource allocation, prioritization, and our strategic direction for building virtual cell models
Foster innovation and collaboration across experimental and computational domains internally at CZI's institutes and externally with the science community

Effectively leverage CZI's compute infrastructure including a 1000 H100 GPU cluster to maximize scientific discovery and lead the development computationally driven biological research

What You'll Bring
Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computational Biology, or a related field with 20+ years of relevant experience
Demonstrated background in AI/ML approaches to biological data analysis, including a deep understanding of diverse experimental methodologies across genomics, proteomics, and cell biology
Significant scientific leadership experience overseeing cross-functional technical teams in academia and/or industry and facilitating strategic collaborations with partners in the field
Proven track record of success in recruiting world-class talent, managing large teams and budgets efficiently and effectively, and delivering large-scale ML projects in computational biology or healthcare on time and within budget

The Redwood City, CA base pay range for a new hire in this role is $794,000.00 - $1,135,200.00. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time.
