Mr. Wilkin is Chairman, President and CEO of Optical Cable Corporation (OCC) (Nasdaq GM: OCC). He was named Chairman and CEO in September 2003, in addition to his previously held positions as President and as a member of the Board. Mr. Wilkin joined OCC in September 2001 as SVP, CFO, and as a Director. Mr. Wilkin was appointed by Governor Tim Kaine to serve on the Board of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership from 2008 to 2013, and has served on the Boards of Directors and in various leadership positions for a number of other not-for-profit and economic development organizations, including the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council, the Boy Scouts Blue Ridge Mountains Council, and Goodwill Industries of the Valleys. He also served on the Board of Directors of Luna Innovations Incorporated (Nasdaq CM: LUNA) from 2012 to 2015, until Luna Innovations' merger with Advanced Photonix, Inc. (NYSE: API). In 2020, Mr. Wilkin was selected as an inaugural member of Virginia Business magazine's Virginia 500.
