RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Navy Chaplain, your job spans a broad range of duties. You will support fellow servicemembers during their most joyful and most difficult moments. Your responsibilities might be to:
Conduct worship services in a variety of settings
Perform religious rites and ceremonies such as weddings, funeral services and baptisms
Counsel individuals who seek guidance
Oversee religious education programs, such as Sunday school and youth groups

Ministry

•Visits employees or immediate family members wherever care can be expressed and help given: hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family residences, or other sites.
•May provide confidential pastoral discussions for problem issues of employees and their immediate family members including, but not limited to family matters, divorce, serious illness, care of aging parents, death and grief recovery, parenting, financial situations that may include debt discussions, budgeting, and other life issues related to financial stress, as well as any other personal issues. Provides referral service and acts as coordinator for specialized assistance to employees and/or immediate family members with specific needs.
•May assist in the planning, conduct or attend funerals for employees or immediate family members, including follow-up support and encouragement to immediate family members during the grief period.
•May make jail visits to employees and immediate family members.
•Works with companies to serve notifications of death and serious injuries to families and other employees, encouraging those impacted by various tragedies.

The University of Miami UHealth Department of UMHC SCCC Psychiatry has an exciting opportunity for a Chaplain in Miami. The incumbent provides spiritual guidance and support during illness, injury, and emergency to patients, family members, and caregivers. Additionally, the incumbent performs religious services and leads prayer.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides confidential and non-judgmental listening, counsel, guidance, direction and support.
Offers crisis and disaster intervention, bereavement counseling, and guidance in ethical decision making.
Ensures that religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met.
Counsels patients undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues, or involved in traumatic accidents.
Communicates respectfully across cultures and with persons of different faiths.
Assists in the coordination of clergy and pastoral visits from the religious community.
Provides crisis intervention by visiting with patients, families, and staff, and making spiritual assessments.
Assesses spiritual needs of patients and families and assists families in using their faith in dealing with illness, trauma, and stress.
Supports staff in dealing with their emotions after the loss of a patient.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Experience:

Department Specific Functions
Provide one-on-one spiritual and emotional support to oncology patients and their families, regardless of religious affiliation or belief system.
Offer bedside visits, prayer, reflection, or rituals based on individual needs and preferences.
Participate in care team meetings and case conferences to integrate spiritual care into the overall patient care plan.
Respond to urgent or crisis situations (e.g., new diagnosis, treatment transition, end-of-life care).
Provide bereavement support to families following a patient's death and offer grief resources and follow-up care.
Contribute to or co-facilitate support groups, remembrance services, and wellness workshops.
Accurately document all patient interactions in the medical record in compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.
Minimum of 4 continuing education units (CEUs)
Department Specific Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Studies, or a closely related field preferred from an accredited institution is required.
Completion of at least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an ACPE-accredited program.
Certification and Licensing:
Board Certification (or eligibility) as a professional chaplain preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in oncology, palliative care, or behavioral health.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
In-depth understanding of spiritual care needs across the cancer care continuum-from diagnosis through survivorship or end-of-life.
Proficiency in spiritual assessment models, documentation in electronic medical records, and integrating spiritual care into patient plans.
Strong crisis intervention and grief counseling skills.
Culturally sensitive with the ability to support individuals from a variety of faith traditions, spiritual backgrounds, or those with no faith affiliation.
Skilled in facilitating advance care planning and supporting ethical conversations around end-of-life care.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, staff, and leadership.

This administrative work in coordinating religious services, programs, recruiting volunteers for said programs and aiding with various social services programs which deliver a wide range of social and psychological services to families, adolescents or prison inmates. The employee in this department is responsible for performing a variety of duties in the organization and coordination of volunteer services.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
1. Pray regularly for all the staff and clients of Agape.
2. Leads a daily Bible study for the clients or arranges for a speaker to do so.
3. Meet each new client when they arrive and give them an overview of the spiritual services provided by Agape. In addition, Chaplain will provide each woman with a composition book, a pen, a Bible, and a tote bag to carry their daily class supplies in.
4. Meets with clients whenever clients have a spiritual need, or when a client needs to talk and their therapist is not available. Chaplain is responsible for communicating with the Clinical Director any concerns she has regarding a client's emotional stability.
5. Senior Chaplain is the liaison between volunteers and Agape. Chaplain helps to coordinate the calendar of events and keeps House Manager up to date on all upcoming events. Chaplain will also keep an ongoing spreadsheet of contact information on all volunteers.
6. Attends weekly Treatment Team Meetings and gives input to the rest of the Team regarding the clients being discussed.
7. Continually works towards creating partnerships with local churches. These partnerships can include churches coming to Agape and providing services OR could be a partnership that allows clients to visit the church on a regular basis, in hopes of getting the client to become a connected part of that church body.
8. Meets with clients before they graduate from Agape, making sure they are connected to a church in the area where they will be relocating back to.
9. Coordinates the English and Spanish speakers/pastors for the weekly Sunday services in the Agape Chapel.
10. Corresponds regularly with volunteers and interested parties the ongoing needs of the clients and of Agape.
11. Meets with any of the Agape staff when they need spiritual counseling and/or prayer.
12. Leads a weekly 15-minute noontime devotional or finds guest speakers to do so.
13. Stays in regular contact with volunteers, chaplains and mentors.
14. Research faith-based community resources for a greater variety of faith-based services for Agape clients.
15. Puts in place volunteer chaplains and mentors.
Qualifications:

As a Hospice Chaplain, you will:
You will report directly to the Administrator or Executive Director.
You will be responsible for the spiritual services provided to hospice patients and families.
