Position Overview
The Chaplain plays a vital role in fostering the spiritual and emotional well-being of our residents. Key Responsibilities
Provide spiritual care and support to residents, families, and staff, addressing individual needs and concerns.
Conduct regular worship services, prayer gatherings, devotions, and spiritual programs tailored to the diverse beliefs of our residents.
Provide one-on-one counseling for residents experiencing grief, illness, life transitions, or emotional distress.
Collaborate with nursing, social work, activities, and leadership teams to ensure holistic resident care.
Facilitate support groups, grief groups, and educational sessions related to spirituality, emotional well-being, or end-of-life topics.
Participate in care plan meetings as needed and contribute to resident wellness plans from a spiritual-care perspective.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of spiritual-care activities and resident interactions per regulatory standards.
Build and maintain relationships with local faith communities to support resident needs and promote community engagement.
Provide spiritual support during crises, end-of-life care, and family interactions.

Qualifications:
Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree from an accredited institution.
Endorsement or certification from a recognized religious organization.
Previous experience in a chaplaincy role, preferably in a senior living or healthcare setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Compassionate, empathetic, and respectful approach to spiritual care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides spiritual education to volunteers at time of training and to Hospice staff and community when requested
Provides excellence in spiritual care that contributes to the well-being of our associates, including 1:1 visits, group interventions, and team meetings as requested and/or appropriate.
Facilitating Support Groups
Can assist in facilitating support groups if needed.
Supports Mission Services' Strategic Initiatives
Performs other duties as assigned in support of our mission, strategic plan, and initiatives. May include formation, education, and supervision work, including supporting the work of our spiritual care volunteers, Eucharistic Ministers, and CPE student interns.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Bachelors degree (Masters preferred)
One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent (4 units preferred)
Agreement to adhering to the Code of Ethics for Spiritual Care Professionals.
Specialized Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of the goals and objectives of St. Elizabeth's Healthcare. Knowledge and respect of spiritual/religious beliefs and practices of various worldview traditions.
Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills and ability to handle difficult patient, family, and associate encounters.
Ability to lead and coordinate prayer and group experiences.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Computer/technology skills in patient documentation and charting and ability to communicate using one's own smartphone.
Must have a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle in good working order.
Kind and Length of Experience:
One year of pastoral ministry or chaplaincy experience.
Ability and desire to work with people from diverse backgrounds, including staff, volunteers, and clergy.
Experience in working as a collaborative part of a team.
