RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Navy Chaplain, your job spans a broad range of duties. You will support fellow servicemembers during their most joyful and most difficult moments. Your responsibilities might be to:
Conduct worship services in a variety of settings
Perform religious rites and ceremonies such as weddings, funeral services and baptisms
Counsel individuals who seek guidance

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director, Supportive Care Services or designee, provide spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their families. Make spiritual assessments of patients, taking into account mental, emotional, physical and spiritual stresses, and respond with appropriate counseling and care. Other duties include, but are not limited to: directing the spiritual plan of care, acting as a liaison to community clergy, participating in performance improvement initiatives and training pastoral care volunteers.
Qualifications
* Equal to a Masters degree in a related discipline.
* Graduate of accredited seminar or school of theology or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry.
* Minimum of one-year experience in working with patients/families dealing with life-threatening illness and death.

Provides timely and appropriate documentation in patient's medical record.

Provides spiritual counseling and services, including crisis intervention, to meet the psycho-spiritual, religious, and existential needs of patient/family in collaboration with the IDT.

Considered part of the Interdisciplinary team, including Palliative care.
Collaborates with Interdisciplinary teams with a focusing on patients and family.
Chaplaincy services address personal, spiritual, emotional, and psychosocial issues.
Provides consultation and education to team on patient-family management as appropriate.
Participates in supervision as appropriate to level of professional development. Serves as a mentor and/or training resource to less experienced staff. Provide spiritual care that respects diversity and differences including, but not limited to culture, gender, sexual orientation, and spiritual/religious practices.
Participates in the assessment, education and resolution of medical ethical issues.
Assists inter-disciplinary team members in understanding the significant psycho-spiritual, religious and existential factors related to the patient/family's quality of life and in developing support for patient/family with regard to spiritual care.
Attends patient care conference and group meetings as a member of the interdisciplinary group.

Facilitate spiritual rituals, prayers, or sacraments as requested by patients or families.
Document spiritual care activities and patient interactions in the medical record, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.

Provide crisis intervention and support in situations of trauma, grief, and end-of-life transitions.

Qualifications
