Maintenance Worker Job in Charlotte, MI
JOB
Under the supervision of the Physical Plant Director, performs a variety of preventative maintenance and repair tasks on County facilities and equipment. Makes repairs to electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, performs carpentry tasks, and maintains and repairs various equipment.New employees will be eligible for a $1,500 recruiting stipend after 6 months of employment with the County and be eligible for $250 monthly retention stipend thereafter through January 31, 2023.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Tests electrical circuits to locate problems. Repairs or replaces motors and pumps and replaces outlets, ballasts and light switches. Runs computer cable and installs replacement wiring.Performs plumbing repairs such as repairing leaks and installing fixtures and water lines. Installs new plumbing and pipe on relatively small jobs.Performs a variety of carpentry tasks such as hanging and finishing drywall, repairing door frames and hanging doors, building walls and partitions, making signs, and constructing storage and shelving units.Monitors the operation of heating and air conditioning units, checking filters, adding boiler chemicals, trouble-shooting problems, cleaning evaporators and condenser cells, changing belts and motors, lubricating bearings and monitoring the operation of air handler units.Performs masonry work such as removing and replacing brick sills, repairing bad mortar joints, repairing sidewalks and steps, and patching holes in asphalt.Performs roof repairs such as patching, replacing flashing and related repairs.Installs carpet, tiles and other floor coverings.Performs repairs to mechanical equipment such as jail locks and security equipment, Medical Care Facility wheelchairs, beds and other equipment and various other items.Performs interior and exterior painting, includes repairing and preparing walls for painting and applying various types of paint. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Prefer skills training in electrical, plumbing and other building trades areas.Two years of experience which could include classes in the maintenance and repair of building and mechanical systems or a related subject.Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License and a good driving record.
