Position Summary:
The LSU Health Sciences Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in New Orleans is seeking applicants for a Perinatologist at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (clinical, non-tenure track) to join our growing Maternal Fetal Medicine division.
The MFM Division serves as a resource and referral unit for the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area and beyond. The division is based in 5 hospitals in the New Orleans area and also serves as the region s primary academic MFM unit. The division is actively involved in the education of 24 residents and 200 medical students as they rotate through the Obstetrical service. Our primary ambulatory site, Touro Infirmary Perinatal Center, is AIUM certified. The MFM division works in multidisciplinary fashion with our affiliated Children s Hospital New Orleans pediatric subspecialty divisions and provides tertiary referral programing within the Louisiana and gulf coast region, for pregnancies with complex fetal and maternal co-morbidities. Our primary obstetric teaching hospital, Touro Infirmary, is a 360 bed facility with > 2500 deliveries per year that has the full complement of in-house Obstetric Anesthesia and ICU support to provide tertiary maternal critical care programming.
Job Title: Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM)
Location: New Orleans, LA
Key Responsibilities:
Prenatal diagnosis, consultative and antenatal care services and ultrasound.
Strong commitment to teaching is required in order to provide outstanding instruction to medical students and residents in various clinical venues.
Clinical and population based research opportunities.
Provide comprehensive care for high-risk pregnancies, including prenatal diagnosis, genetic counseling, fetal therapy, and management of maternal complications
Perform and interpret advanced obstetric imaging, including detailed ultrasounds, fetal echocardiography, and procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Neonatology, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric surgery, OB Anesthesia, Adult Cardiology and Critical Care/ICU teams to provide coordinated care for complex cases.
Participate in the education and training of obstetrics and gynecology residents and medical students through clinical supervision, surgical instruction, and teaching.
Engage in clinical and translational research, with opportunities to lead or collaborate on studies focused on maternal-fetal medicine, prenatal diagnosis, or fetal therapies.
Contribute to departmental initiatives, including quality improvement, patient safety, and the development of evidence-based clinical protocols.
Share in the on-call rotation for maternal-fetal medicine, providing consultation and care for patients with high-risk pregnancies.
Qualifications:
Medical degree (or equivalent)_
Board Certification or Board Eligibility (or equivalent) in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Board Certification in OBGYN.
Licensed to practice Medicine in Louisiana before hire date.
Completion of an accredited OB/GYN residency program.
Completion of an accredited MFM fellowship program.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in an academic and team-oriented environment.
Commitment to providing patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical proficiency and skills with invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures, perinatal ultrasound imaging, maternal disease management and leadership in public health programming. Experience in medical education and mentoring, with interest in curriculum development and academic leadership.
Experience in or interest in clinical research, fetal therapy, or health outcomes research in maternal-fetal medicine.

The Peds BSN Nursing Instructor will provide Clinical site education to students enrolled at the assigned Workforce Development Program site.

Provide feedback of clinical performance or specific event in a timely manner after observation;
Assists in maintaining student records as evidenced by keeping accurate clinical and/or skills lab attendance, completed skills check-off forms, and assisting with requested programmatic outcome data collection;
Ensuring clinical assignments meet both student and facility needs;
Determines best method to observe, instruct, and evaluate students;
Makes continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction;
Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning;
Submit required program reports and forms to the Academic Site Director of the program in a timely manner;
Keep current with innovative technologies and safety regulations;
Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program as needed;
Attend faculty meetings;
Provide access to students for ongoing communication through scheduling of office hours, electronic communication, or other appropriate method.

Pay Range: $55-$68/hr DOE
Qualifications
Hold a valid, unencumbered license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing;
Eligible for approval by CA BRN as Instructor for Medical-Surgical, OB, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Community Health, or Geriatrics;
Master's degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing, education, or administration, and academic preparation for the subject they teach to be considered as Assignment Faculty;
BSN and currently enrolled in a Master's program may be considered for a Clinical Teaching Assistant;
Minimum four-years' experience, with one year in the last five years, as a registered nurse providing direct patient care. Clinical experience within the last five years (clinical teaching in an RN program applies toward direct patient care.) Clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c);
One-year experience teaching courses related to nursing or completion of a course which includes practice in teaching nursing preferred; and

* Assists in patient admission, discharge, and transfer. Measures, collects, and records patient data (e.g., weight, vital signs) and reports symptoms, reactions, and changes in patients' condition to the Registered Nurse.
* Assists patients with activities of daily living.
* Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system and/or pharmacy and delivers the medications to the nurse and/or place medications in a secure location as determined by the nurse manager
* Collaboration & Partnership
* Assists physicians with examination, treatments, and special tests. Collects patient specimens and transports specimens to the lab.
* Performs procedures consistent with standards set forth by their school of nursing and level of nursing education completed under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

The Nurse Tech performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The Nurse Tech provides basic patient care and assist with activities of daily living (ADL)s under close supervision of the nurse. Basic patient care and ADLs are defined as: patient bathing, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties that they have verified completion of competencies. * Communication, Customer Service, computer Skills and Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
