Working at Chavez Huerta Preparatory Academy

The only pro for working for this company is the paid time off for holidays and having only a 4 day work week.

Very much a who-you-know work setting where those that have been there longer get away with so much. i have seen teachers abuse kids, cuss them out, and throw things at them with only a slap on the wrist. Where teachers that were actually trying to help the students had rumors spread about them and they were fired because the admin didnt like the fact that they wanted to help these kids. In most cases the admin only look at the children as a paycheck for funding, not really caring for their wellbeing.

None of the leadership teamed helped with anything and expect you to pick up the slack. My first year teaching no one showed me what to do, how to use their system to take attendance and grades, or even how to manage the grading system. Every instance where i voiced my concerns i was reprimanded and later fired when I told them about other teachers' misconduct. The staff and media had been lied to and many teachers and staff were fired right before thanksgiving break because they do not have the funds. I do not see a staff of 100 there as the entirety of the middle school teaching staff was only 12 people on a good day.

I would restructure the entirety of the board and admin positions, re-look at all the teachers that actually want to make a difference and have them able to speak their opinions at board meetings. Things that affect the teachers and students should be transparent.

Just knew about the facility and im good at answering questions when it comes down to it.

With average starting salary for new teachers in colorado being around 56k from what ive seen, at CHPA starting salary is around 35k which is way below what it should be. No bonuses, and they cut the pay for subbing other classes down to only 25 dollars which is more than half of what the original contract stated.

There is a good sense of diversity and inclusion in the work space but i can see that it is a work place that is highly female dominant.

Only the students that actually want to learn and are highly involved in their studies.
